Travel Day....on the road again

 June 7, 2023

Shenandoah Valley CG site P3

Mount Jackson, Va

Some days you experience those crazy incidents that make for a great story to share.  Well folks, today wasn't one of those days.  Our launch from Mayberry CG went off without a hiccup....as smooth as you could ask for and even a couple of minutes ahead of our target departure time.

We came upon the state border pretty early into our trip and Dad, sitting in the co-pilot seat,  even managed to snag a shot of that sign, even though it was pretty far removed from the highway.

Can you make it out in the distance?  Let me crop it for you and bring it closer.
It seems the camera was focused on the mirror and not that sign in the far off distance, but you can still make out the image...a tad blurry, but ...... hey, you can still make out the state name.  Pats on the back for Dad even managing to capture that far off sign!!

Our rest stop break was superb.  We had a couple of choices along the way.  We had planned to skip the first one which turned out to be a fantastic decision because there was no room for us at all.  When we stopped at our planned break, we found ample parking.  The setting was even picturesque.  We were traveling thru the Blue Ridge Mountain area.  Check out the mountains in the background.

The scenery is a refreshing change for this Floridian flatlander.

I can really tell we aren't in Florida anymore as Dad has had the fireplace on taking the morning chill off for the last 3 mornings.

Our arrival at Shenandoah Valley Campground was just as smooth as our morning departure.  We were greeted by an efficient, capable gal in the office who reviewed and presented us with a packet of helpful info to help us get acquainted with the area.  Nice touch!

Our site is a nice long pull thru with grass to tickle my belly.

Uncle Steve did have to back up on his site just a tad as his site slopes a bit and he wanted all his wheels on the ground when he leveled up.  Mission accomplished!!  And he didn't have to use a tank of gas to do it, unlike our stay at Sweetwater Lake.

So all and all, I guess you could say the travel day was a success as everything went as planned.

Dad even tossed my ball for me to fetch.  It just doesn't get any better while .....on the road again.....

I'm Chloe
