Pumpkin Patch RV Resort site 17
Hermon, Maine
Today was a lazy, slow starting day for us as we stayed up until ... well actually today.... as it was after midnight when Momma and Dad climbed in bed. Momma was just beginning to stir when Uncle Steve and Aunt Carol called to say they were ready to head out for the day to Fort Knox. Dad wished them a safe jouney on their adventure while he began to prepare Momma a wonderful breakfast of bacon and some of his famous French Toast made with Momma's cranberry, walnut sourdough bread.
On the list of items to accomplish today was a haircut for Dad, fuel for the Ram and dinner with Ken and Rosemary.
Well, we knew it would be a matter of time before we finally had to purchase diesel with a price per gallon over $4, and today was that day at $4.07. Our lowest price was $3.18 and the last couple of fill ups have been at $3.99.
While heading for the barber shop, Momma and Dad checked out Paul Bunyan.
He may be a BIG man, but Dad has him beat in the handsome department....especially now that Dad is sporting his nice haircut!!
Aunt Carol and Uncle Steve shared some pictures of their adventure. They toured Fort Knox
They had an incident that reinforeced that saying, 'It's a small world'. The gal who was selling the tour tickets asked Aunt Carol where they were from. When she responded, Florida, the gal said, 'Oh we winter in Brooksville, Florida' which is near Aunt Carol and Uncle Steve's house. Small world!!Uncle Steve found it strange that no soldiers ever slept at Fort Knox.
They also visited the observatory for a high view of the area.
They said they were delighted to use the elevator rather than the stairway.
After enjoying a haddock sandwich in Bucksport at Warren's Waterfront Restaurant, they headed back to the campground.
Ken and Rosemary joined the gang at McLaughlin's Seafood for dinner. Momma and Dad enjoyed a bucket of steamed clams with a side of sweet potato fries.Ken and Rosemary enjoyed a fish sandwichwhile Uncle Steve sampled the fried shrimp basket.
Aunt Carol decided she wanted to work for her dinner so she tackled a lobster....with the guidance/assistance of Rosemary.
Delicious sweet meat dipped in butter.
The evening drew to a close back at Pumpkin Patch with Momma's chocolate cake for dessert and lots of stories shared. Ahhh..The Good Life😁
Tomorrow we will be making more memories to share as we cross the border into Canada. New Bruswick and the Fundy Bay will be our destination.
I'm Chloe
