Wednesday's recap

April 1, 2026

Summerfield, Fl

Dad invited me to his workbench this morning.  I was wondering what project he had going where he needed my help....and then it all became clear.  I was the project...or rather my nails were.  But that's okay.  I lay still while he grinds away on my nails and trims my shaggy feet with the hair scissors because I know what is coming next.  You have to try out the finished project which means I get to run, leap, and catch my frisbee.  Yep, it was a great morning.

The afternoon project wasn't near as much fun for me.  Dad was using the utility trailer that had just received a face lift and was loading it up with all the freeze damaged, cold abused trimmings from the garden beds.

It was hard working in the sun so I found some nice shade
under the trailer.  I knew once Dad got focused on his task, there would be no more frisbee tosses so I rang my doggy door bell so Momma knew I wanted to come back inside.  It was time to catch a few zzz's so I would be ready to romp when Dad was finished.
The four caravaning rigs were spending their last day together at Foscue Creek Campground.  Bob and Reba were very familiar with the area so they suggested lunch at

I guess the restaurant's name was fitting as everything was simply delicious, including dessert.

There were simply delicious cakes available to take home as well.

The barges kept providing entertainment

as everyone sat around the evening campfire
waiting to enjoy the colorful sunset.

We didn't have barges for entertainment.  We had a shuttle launch instead,
until the clouds interfered with the view

Tuesday's update

 March 31. 2026

Summerfield, Florida

Today turned out to be wash day...and I'm not referring to laundry.  Pam decided to get the road grime off her rig.

I guess the idea appealed to her neighbor as Jim had his rig sparkling as well in no time.

I'm not sure if Rick got the wash idea from his neighbors or if his morning visitor whispered the wash idea in his ear.

Good morning 'dash ducks'

With the cleaning completed, the group decided to visit the spillway.

Even my friend Izzy got to go along today

A gorgeous, scenic area close to the campground

Quite a bit of barge activity today both at night as well as during the day.

Did you gals see that one just pass by?

Shhhh  I'm hiding out.....
from that big bird
What do you mean he won't hurt me?  Oh, he likes his meals dead.  But what about this guy?

or this one?

Ahh, so they are made from wood, carved by a previous camp worker.

And another day draws to a close surrounded by Mother Nature's finest
at

Meanwhile, Steve had the same washing thoughts today while camped at Southern Springs in Ocala, Florida as he got out his rig cleaning tools to produce a sparkle to his rig and jeep while Carol attended a dance workshop held in Ocala.  I think her smile says she really enjoyed herself as she posed with Irish choreographer Gary O'Reilly.

Steve and Carol will travel home on Wednesday.  Kathy and Greg arrived home today.

Momma had a rough night with discomfort from her wound.  She got lucky when she called the doctor's office for advice on how to survive the following 24 hours until her next appointment the following day.  They had a cancellation and told her to come on in.  It wasn't a fun visit as both the nurse and doctor made her cry out in pain as they tended to her leg, but by the time she left the office, the pain level had greatly reduced and all is as well as can be expected once again.  At the pharmacy, the clerk shared the cost of this latest prescription...$77 for 7 days of tablets.  Dad thought that was a tad painful until the clerk found a coupon reducing the price to $28.  And so it goes on the slow healing journey.  The doctor said there would be many more weekly visits in Momma's future.  If the doctor had said that tomorrow on the first day of the month, Momma would have been hoping that was an April Fool's joke.

After settling back in at home, nurse Dad put on another hat as he also had been bitten by the cleaning bug.  He attacked the inside of the camper shampooing the carpet areas.  Then he looked at me and I thought for sure I could see him deciding if I needed a tubby.  Whew!  I escaped that experience...for today at least.

Monday was busy

 March 30, 2026

Summerfield, Fl

Is your project almost finished Dad?  You sure are making lots more noise putting on the new side boards than you did taking the old boards off.  I think I'll stay inside the house with Momma until that part has been completed.

Did you say tomorrow will be black paint day?  That sounds like a much quieter activity as you finish giving the utility trailer a face lift.

Did you know that Momma traveled vicariously with her camping friends from Huntsville to Demopolis, Alabama today?  She may be separated by a few states, but that doesn't matter.  Unlike the separation that occurred after the lunch stop where everyone enjoyed Louise's chicken salad sandwiches. Momma send a picture of the cookies she had just taken out of the oven.  I'm sure they would have appreciated the real cookies rather than just a picture.

It appears to be a rather cloudy day so maybe that is why 'the shadow' , as Pam is often known as, had trouble following the lead rigs and making the turn onto 20 west.  Ooops👀 Which way did they go?  Time for a U-turn, getting on the ramp and catching up.

Bob and Reba had sent the 'your sites are empty and ready for you' notification so they rolled on in Foscue Creek Campground well before the posted 4pm arrival time that is typical of Corp of Engineer Parks.

When Momma cancelled our site, Jim and Michelle changed their reserved site to our now vacant site 50 with a nice view of the water and closer to everyone else.  Here's a view of the site through Pam's window.

Reba had suggested a spaghetti night while at Foscue Creek Campground so the group divided up the food items and enjoyed a super, shared meal.

Louise's salad, Michelle's garlic bread, Pam's sauce and meatballs, with Reba's spaghetti pasta as well as dessert.

A great shared meal with super camping friends enjoyed in a beautiful setting by the water

where they watched the ships/barges traveling by

But the day was far from over.  It was campfire time.

Meanwhile in the Griffin rig, the wheels had been turning today taking Steve and Carol in a southernly direction from Dothan to Ocala, Florida where they will spend two nights.

Greg and Kathy are still in Folkston for one more day enjoying the boardwalk trail out to the observation tower at the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge

spotting numerous birds and additional creatures.

Swallowtail Kite

Red shouldered Hawk

Woodpecker

alligator

skink

Momma censored the snake picture, sorry folks.

Tomorrow they plan to travel home.  I wish they would stop by my house for a game or two of ball or frisbee.
