Cotton Hill

I woke Momma up around 5am to let her know that it was raining outside.  It was making me a bit nervous.

Dad and Bob had made arrangements to head into Eufaula this morning at 7:30 to make a donut run.  The sun hadn't even made an appearance yet and the rain was falling in a steady flow when they headed out.

As luck would have it, just as they returned with three boxes loaded with tasty breakfast donuts,

the rain stop so everyone could gather for a sweet start to their day with a light, melt in your mouth, glazed morsel.

No skimping on the filling at this donut shop

I went into full beg mode this morning

Now, tell the truth.  Could you resist sharing your treat with these sad eyes locked on you, watching your every bite?  My stomach was more than satisfied this morning with all the generous offerings.

The rain brought a chill to the air, with a temperature of 59 degrees.  A good day for gathering around the table inside our rig for a game of Five Crown.

Or discussing what the next project will be

And after all that sitting around the game table, it was time for a bit of exercise, so a wood gathering crew got to work collecting dead limbs and organizing them by the firepit.

The afternoon zipped by with a game of Mexican Train dominoes.

But before they settled in to play, I sweet talked Louise into a game of ball.  I seriously think she likes to play as much as I do!

Upon arrival yesterday, Jim and Michelle discovered that using their auto leveler resulted in being leveled on air.  Yep, the tires were off the ground.  A conference/help call to the techs at Lippert resulted in a determination that one front jack wasn't operating.  Camping World in Salem, Al said they would take a look at it if they brought the rig in so......they hooked up and headed out this afternoon.  We were pleasantly surprised to see them rolling back into their site at 6:30 tonight after receiving a replacement fuse.  A quick and painless fix!

As all the dogs are well aware, Carol ALWAYS has her pockets loaded with our dog treats.... and now the humans know it as well.  All they have to do is read her shirt
I get so excited when I see her.  I can barely contain myself!

Tim had just completed fabricating a grill to use over the open fire that he was anxious to try out.  It was put to good use tonight as several diners grilled their meat over the open flame.
With a chill in the air, it was a good night for sitting around the campfire, challenging the wind that was constantly changing directions, giving everyone a chance to share in the smoke.

It was a great day at Cotton Hill Campground.

Travel Day

Fort Gaines, Georgia

Morning at Pebble Hill

Today is travel day as we relocate to Fort Gaines.  The campground is a core of engineer park with arrivals expected at 4pm.  Such a late arrival time equates to a laid back morning departure which turned into a breakfast gathering outside our rig.  On the menu:  pancakes, sausage, blueberry topping and of course maple syrup.

Momma had just commented on how green everything looks here in Georgia

when we came upon a road filled with emergency vehicles.

They had just finished putting out a brush fire.

They were just wrapping up so we were directed through the maze of vehicles without any trip interruption.

Just check out the view from under our awning as we look out at our surroundingsl

Exploring Waycross

 March 10, 2026

Pebble Hill RV site 14

Waycross, Georgia

Now where are you heading off to today?  Oh yes, Momma mentioned she had made arrangements at Okefenokee Heritage Center and Southern Forest World for tours.

The Heritage Center

not only has history displays

but they were featuring a fabric art display.  Momma was super impressed with the artistic talent displayed using fabric to create vivid scen
es.

Impressive, artistic creations.

Another room featured additional creations created with tatting threads as well as yarn and....get ready for it....plastic grocery bags crocheted into a purse and matching hat.

The displays continued outside walking past colorful azalea bushes
to arrive at the train.

Situated behind the caboose was Hillard House.

Jim said that the old mattress he saw in the building resembled a poor quality RV mattress (usually one of the first things that gets replaced in an RV).

The next stop was located next door where everyone was treated to a guided tour.

The focus was on wood....forests, products that use wood, and the many jobs related to wood.

What are they looking at?

Oh my!  That poor dog got stuck in the hollow tree and wasn't discovered until loggers cut down the tree and discovered the mummified body.

Making use of another of the campground owner's recommendations, some of the group headed for the Downtown Sandwich Shop.

Missy's recommendations have been excellent!  She also tossed out the name of a Mexican Restaurant that Jim and Michelle decided to visit ....and once again.....Missy's recommendation was excellent.

Louise and Rick headed out to

Googling for the location of the best burgers in the area, they headed out only to discover burgers weren't even on the menu....but the fried chicken was a winner.

The day drew to a close under the awning

after it became too dark to play additional corn hole matches.... or ball fetch...even though I tried my best to convince them that I could probably locate that ball in the dark and bring it back....if only I could convince someone to toss it.
