Bangor

Pumpkin Patch RV Resort site 17

Hermon, Maine

Today was spent with half the day on chores and the other half was a day for exploration by the 2-legged.  Momma and Dad got a bit carried away with this 'cleaning' streak.  The washer was humming this morning and come noon time, I saw Dad hooking up the hose to the outside shower.  Mmmmm...  Then he tested the water for temperature.  Momma appeared with a bottle of shampoo... but I thought she just washed her hair last night??  Oops, she's got her tubby apron on... and that's my dog shampoo.  Now I have to admit, I do enjoy the massage, but I really don't like water in my face.

But now I have a lovely smell and such soft fur.  I guess you could say, "Life is Good".  Just be sure to grab your sunglasses as my coat is VERY white and bright!!

While I relaxed after my tubby, the two-legged loaded up in the Jeep.  The first stop in Bangor was a viewing, from the outside of the fence only,

of Stephen King's unique home and gate

Yes, Auntie Carol, that really does look like a spider web.  And you can't make it out in this pic, but the house number 4 7 is embedded in the spiders' bodies. The house can only be viewed from the sidewalk.

So all the 'tourists' were taking turns snapping pics with the house in the background.

I'm not sure if this carving on the lawn has a name, but it sure has a ton of detail.
Most of the homes on this street appear to have plenty of square footage and character.  Check out the house next door.
With three chimneys in view, there has to be at least 3 fireplaces.

From there the gang decided to tour the heart/center of Bangor checking out the lay of the land.  They road thru the city center as well as down by the waterfront.

Then they decided to do comparison taste testing.  Dad remembered an ice cream shop called Giffords.
As in the Fielder's Choice, there were plenty of flavors to pick from
And as in Fielder's Choice, they had Auntie Carol's pistachio flavored ice cream
Now I'm not sure if it was the change in ambiance between the two places that stirred Uncle Steve.
Small flowers here

Larger flowers there

along with a fountain pond in a tranquil setting there.

Auntie Carol tried to explain to Uncle Steve that to do a real taste comparison, he needed a chocolate cone....but......

That Rootbeer Float doesn't resemble a chocolate cone at all!  But it does lend itself to sharing as it comes with a spoon and a straw.

The next stop not only pleased the guys, but I was delighted as well because Momma purchased another package of rawhide bones for me.  Dad was pleased to find DEF at a reasonable price.  The last place he had tried to purchase some only had the 'twice the price' brand on the shelf.  The reasonable priced box was sold out.  And Uncle Steve and Aunt Carol each found a couple of items to purchase, although I think I'd enjoy sharing Auntie Carol's caramel corn more than I would enjoy sharing Uncle Steve's chunks of metal.

Then it was on to an RV parts store where they also had great success scoring the items they had in mind to purchase.

The final stop was where Momma purchased some cortizone ointment for her bites that she received upon arriving in the area; one on each arm above the wrist and one on her left hand,   Each bite had a blood puncture wound and the swelling radiating from there.  Itchy for sure .... even on the second day.

After sharing a grilled dinner at the picnic table, the guys challenged the gals to three games of Fast Tract where they came out victorious all three games.

Oh yes, and the results of the taste comparison:
Momma enjoys chocolate with lumps and bumps and she liked the Chocolate Raspberry Truffle flavor from Gifford's better than the Chocolate Almond Joy flavor but Momma as well as Auntie Carol felt that Fielder's Choice was a creamier/smoother ice cream and the portion size from FC was definitely was definitely more generous.

I am just enjoying my chew time on my Rawhide bone.

I'm Chloe
