Century Farm CG site 23
St. Martins, NB
Our departure from Pumpkin Patch RV Resort was smooth and right on time. We headed out at 9am and after a short stretch break, we were at the Canadian border crossing at St. Stephen Third Bridge shortly after 11am. We had traveled through several miles of what appeared to be undeveloped Maine land. Shortly into our trip, Momma spotted a new to her sign. Rather than just a leaping deer sign, this sign had a bright red banner attached to it stating something to the effect of 'high incident area'.
The road kept the Ram busy pulling the fiver up the hills and letting the 5th Wheel push it down the other side and around the bends in the road.
Our border crossing was quick and friendly. The border guard had Dad roll down the back window so I stuck my head out and she said, "Hi there pup!" with a big smile on her face. Last year Momma had to download an app on her phone called Arrive Canada and complete some information which in turn allowed her to receive an QR code to show the border guard. This year she didn't have to jump thru those hoops. Just drive up, show your identification, respond to a few questions and we were on our way.
As we followed Route 1 around St John, we experienced a lot of road construction but traffic kept moving smoothly.
There was also quite a bit of construction on 111 that we traveled after we left Route 1. There was a flager and a pilot car at one point of the construction. The road that was waiting its turn for repair really sent the message of why they were resurfacing that road.Auntie Carol's clothes jumped off her clothes rod. Whoopie doo!! Bouncy bounce!!
We are now in the Atlantic Time Zone so our clocks all took an hour leap ahead. It was approaching high tide when we arrived
Our campground is right on the water so Momma and Dad walked down by the waterline and Momma came back with the beginnings of her Fundy Bay rock collection. Dad asked the neighbor if he had any extra spare axel. LOL Now Dad, those rocks aren't THAT heavy!!
Momma had memories of that great chowder they had eaten previously at The Caves Restaurant. It is presented as 'World Famous'. She said it tasted as good as she remembered, if not even better. A thick, creamy white base loaded with fish...lobster, haddock, and scallops that is served with a delicious biscuit on the side. A meal to die for!! And eating outside on their patio was a bonus.
The weather was a delighful 73 with a slight breeze. She said enjoying a delicious meal with good friends by the water in beautiful, picturesque surroundings is certainly living the good life.
Before returning to me, they stopped to take some pictures of the new covered bridge. The old one used to be a single lane bridge which meant everyone took turns crossing. This bridge has two lanes for traffic.
This is the bridge that you have to cross to get to that delicious chowder and fish dinner offerings.Just a ways down the waterway is a second bridge that will take you to the homes up on the hill.
How did your picture turn out, Uncle Steve?Hey, that's an actual camera and not a phone camera. He's serious about collecting good shots and memories of this area.
The grass around our rig makes a great play area for me. Toss that ball again Dad.
I'm having a great time here in St. Martin, New Brunswick.
I'm Chloe
