Century Farm CG site 23
St Martins, NB
This campground is laid out with a staggered double row of sites. Those with a view from the front window are on the front row and those with a back window view are staggered in a row behind them. That way everyone gets a view of the bay.
Uncle Steve is in the front row and we look over his picnic table out our back window for our view of the water. And of course you can walk on the beach....and stick your toe in the water.
When it is low tide, there is lots of beach and a hill of rocks to climb down and back up. Uncle Steve equated it to trying to keep your balance while walking on ball bearings as the rocks shift as you make the climb up or down the bank. I'm so light on my feet, I don't mind the rock bank at all. Maybe there is an advantage to having 4 legs on the ground!?! Just follow me Uncle Steve.Last night was another wet night and unfortunately it continued on into the morning. But do you think that intimidated the two-legged? Not this gang. They donned their rain coats, loaded up in the jeep and headed for St. John.
The first stop was the reversing falls. It's and area where the Fundy Bay meets at St John. The water rushes in (or out) as the tide flows from high to low and back to high once again every 6 hours and 13 minutes. The geological shape of that narrow area lends itself to what one could call 'rapids' or 'reversing falls'. The tides of the bay force the flow of water to reverse against the prevailing current.

Once again, luck was on their side as the rain stopped in order to let everyone get out of the Jeep and take in the view from the viewing station.
The next stop was City Market which has a long history.
The original building in 1830 gathered six markets together in one building but the building was lost to fire 7 years later. It was rebuilt in brick but that building was also demolished. In 1874, architects were offered prizes in a competition to submit a market design. By 1876, the City Market was in operation once again. The winning design, earning the architect $200 prize money, has a roof that resembles an inverted keel of a ship. All the wood was hand hewed with dovetail joints. The contruction has withstood time.
Not only do they serve coffee, but their chicken wraps were enjoyed as well.
Auntie Carol found a cute moose to bring home. I'm not worried because that moose isn't able to beg and digest treats as I am. He's already stuffed. I won't have to share a single treat!!
On the way back to the Jeep, parked at the top of the hill
While in St John, the gang took advantage of the larger stores and replaced some pantry items. Momma was excited to be able to purchase one of her favorite flours that is not available in the US.
By the time they returned to me, the wind was still blowing and flapping the toppers over our slides and a misty rain was still falling. I'm sure Momma wanted me to do my outside 'business' much quicker, but I enjoyed that wind and rain ruffling my coat and I had been cooped up inside most of the day. Just wrap that rain coat a bit tighter Momma and enjoy this windy fresh air sending a chill through your body as it is only 62 degrees.
I was excited to see everyone gather around the table once again in the evening, but I really wish they would pay more attention to me rather than that game of Dirty Uno. If Uncle Steve wouldn't keep making Momma draw 5 cards at a time, she would have a free hand to give me some attention. Should I nip his ankles to get him to stop laying down those dreaded jokers? Now he's picking on my Auntie Carol. I guess they are having fun if all the chuckles are any indication.
I'm Chloe
