Another fun day in Maine

 June 20, 2023

Pumpkin Patch RV Resort site 117

Hermon, Maine (Bangor)

Travel day once again, but only a short two hour haul to arrive on the outskirts of Bangor, Maine.  That meant a laid back departure after 10 am.  We didn't want to arrive too early....in case our site was still occupied here at Pumpkin Patch RV Resort.

We had just a light sprinkle as Momma took me out for my walk before I loaded up in the Ram.  We attempted to avoid the mud puddles as we departed the campground.  After all, Dad had just washed our rig and truck.
We watched Uncle Steve's rig bounce over the numerous speed bumps

and then we took our turn bouncing over those higher than needed speed bumps.
The drizzle had stopped so we had a pretty ride.

The trip was rather straight forward today.  Get on I-95.  Get off I-95 and travel a short distance to the campground....and then the fun began.

We are in a nice pull thru site with gravel and a gravel apron with a super nice picnic table (not one of those old wooden ones that look like skis for a top) and hook ups mid way.  And with the Passport America price of 50% off, $25 a night had Dad smiling!  Now the trick is to settle onto the spot that would allow our steps to be on the gravel patio apron while staying far enough away from the electric/water pedestal for our slide to open without crashing into that pedestal.  After analysis and measurement, only one 'pull up and back up to relocate' maneuver and we were good to go.

Momma said, "When you think of food and Maine, what is your first thought?"  Well, my thoughts are dog food of course, as that's all that is ever on my menu.  Dad said, "seafood!!"  Momma had asked the gals in the office for a recommendation and the reply was Kimberly's at the Marina.

What an arrival they experienced at Kimberly's.  Dad was hungry so we arrived as they opened.  And wouldn't you know the rain began as they got close to the restaurant, so there they were, at the restaurant, in the parking lot, in a down pour.
Of course as soon as everyone was seated inside, the rain stopped

so they could enjoy the water view out the windows.

Maybe they needed that extra spurt of energy dancing amongst the rain drops to boost their appetites??

Camping friends RoseMary and Ken are at nearby Pleasant Hill Campground.  They shared a recommendation for an ice cream shop that the gang decided to check out for dessert before joining them around Ken's fire pit.

Numerous selections for generous portions of ice cream...both soft and hard at Fielder's Choice.

Too many choices make a tough decision for some.  Auntie Carol and Uncle Steve don't seem to be plagued by that problem.  Uncle Steve consistantly orders chocolate while Auntie Carol orders pistachio.
They have two sizes that are listed as being less/smaller portions than a small size. Auntie Carol's size is the smallest one listed.  Now you know what is meant by generous portions.  Just check out Dad's medium sundae.

Everyone agreed that Ken's Maine fire was a dandy.  And it was wonderful to spend time with Ken, Rosemary, granddaughter Emily and Martin, the 4-legged with daughter-in-law taking the photo.

And so ends the first of three days at this stop.

I'm Chloe
