Project vs shopping

 June 9, 2023

Shenandoah Valley CG

Mount Jackon, Va

I got to hang out with the guys today.  They had a 'guy' project that was done stealthly.  Most campgrounds frown on repairs at their campground.  Well, this wasn't a repair, it was just maintenance.  That's their story and they are sticking to it! Uncle Steve had secured a new filter....after a couple of visits to the local auto parts store... as it was time to change the oil in his generator. No problem.  And not a drop of oil was spilled.

While the guys did their thing, the gals hopped in the Ram and headed south to New Market and the Shenandoah Heritage Market.

All the shops were located in a large building.
Aunt Carol was tickled with some of the finds she purchased from the well stocked kitchen store.  Momma said it wasn't quite as well stocked as she had hoped.  It seems her wooden toaster tongs broke and with the amount of merchandise and well stocked shelves, she just knew she would locate a replacement.  The closest thing she found was a set of bamboo tongs but they were shaped in a V and would be too wide and cumbersome for sliding into a toaster slot.

The antique shop had some great finds on the shelves as well.  Maybe it's a good thing the guys didn't come along as they would never have appreciated all the merchandise....no tools in site. But they might have enjoyed snacking on some of the samples at Grandpa's Pantry.

They could have even taken a turn on the pony.

Do you think Aunt Carol is a cowgirl at heart?  She sure seems happy riding the rocking horse.

Dad suggested that the tank on the Ram get topped off as we are heading out for another campground tomorrow.  Momma figured if they made use of the recommendation by the campground owner and enjoyed fried chicken at the Southern Kitchen for dinner, it would be Dad who would be pumping the diesel fluid into the Ram as that would be the last trip before heading further north.  Great plan.  No rattling of the pots and pans in the rig and no messy diesel for Momma to deal with.  After all, Dad is the experienced pumper!!

Southern Kitchen turned out to be a 'local hole in the wall' restaurant that is noted for their southen fried chicken.  Nothing fancy.  Just tasty meals at a reasonable price.

Momma came home bearing a take out box,  I just knew she had brought me some of that southern fried chicken so I could add my opinion of the meal....but, alas, that box went right into the refrigerator.  But Momma......

I'm Chloe
