Scenic Park site 5
South Sioux City, NE
It was just before 10pm when the quiet of the night was interrupted by continuous barking....barking....barking...barking. And it wasn't the 'can Chloe come out and play' bark. It was the 'gotcha now' and come down out of that tree bark. Dad grabbed his flashlight and went out to investigate. There he was....the Husky looking dog, with a piece of broken rope dangling, barking at the tree behind our rig.
Dad decided to walk up to the office to see if there was an off-duty phone number to call. Nope. So he stopped by our truck and located the campground flyer with a number. By the time he finally located the number with a human on the other end, checking to see if anyone was looking for their run away dog, the owner had heard all the barking and arrived to take the pup home.
Well, last night it was Momma's turn to wake me up in the wee early morning hours when she developed a leg cramp. I'm sure she didn't just do it to get even for all the times I woke her because she really appeared to be in misery. Pickle juice to the rescue! And amazingly enough, Dad slept through the whole episode. Now that's unusual for him. Maybe it had something to do with his lack of afternoon siesta time? Plus all the traipsing around with the barking dog incident.
On a positive note, this morning's appointment went off without a hitch. Dad was actually impressed by the work ethic of the tech who performed our repairs.
Once again, the tech was unable to find anything broken in our suspension so Dad and the tech decided the best plan of action was to change out all the leaf springs as they appeared flatten out and the one set nearly had a reverse curve.
We arrived a few minutes early for our 9am appointment and the tech got right on it. Two and a half hours later we were on the road again, heading south with a smile on Dad's face. The bill wasn't near as painful as he had anticipated and we seem to be riding a tad higher with more space between the two tires that were attempting to kiss each other. The equalizers are showing some wear as well, so that will be addressed in September when we get to Indiana.
Our short hour and twenty minute trip took us through three states today before we landed in South Sioux City. We began in South Dakota traveling thru Iowa
before stopping in Nebraska.I have another gem to add to my map as this is my first night sleeping in Nebraska, right along side of the Missouri River.
I'm Chloe
