Stormy night

 August 6, 2025

Scenic Park Campground site 5

South Sioux City, NE

The local workers were out gathering the downed branches this morning and doing clean up after the overnight action.  We weren't rocked to sleep last night but rather jolted awake around 3:30 this morning as the wind gusts caused erratic movement of our rig.  The strong gusts only lasted about 45 minutes thankfully but it was long enough to give our neighbors a bad day.  As the sun rose shedding light on the downed branches, this Class A discovered some overnight damage.

The wind caught their slide topper and raised it over the roof.

Needless to say, we are back in mud and puddles again due to all the heavy rain that accompanied those strong wind gusts.

The day began with breakfast for the gang at our site...served inside due to the lingering weather.  The two-legged enjoyed waffles, bacon and sausage while I only got the enjoy the smells.  I think Robin would have slipped me some goodies if only Momma and Dad would turn their backs.  I have been having some issues lately with sloppy stool deposits that are not formed and hard to pick up so Momma and Dad have really been watching me around the kitchen.  Momma has been making me chicken and rice dinners which seems to improve things.  But no other people food for me.

By 10:30 the rain had stopped and everyone took advantage of the weather break to fuel up their tanks getting ready for tomorrow's travel day, as well as restocking the refrigerators.  We are back down to $3.17 a gallon for diesel...about 40 cents cheaper than what we were paying in the Dakotas, but still higher than when we were in the southern states.

We seemed to have developed another issue.  When Momma went to lock the door on the keypad, there were no sounds issued when she punched in the numbers.  Probably just needs new batteries.  Wrong.  Dad replaced the batteries but discovered water intrusion that is possibly the real issue.  I guess it's going to be back to the keys until Dad has more time to delve into the issue.

Dad decided it was time for a visit to the barber so he located one close by who trimmed him up nicely.  Mission accomplished.

Tomorrow we will head for Lincoln, Nebraska where Momma has located a chiropractor who hopefully will put her right SI joint back in alignment.  They also found a vet for me to visit on Friday to discuss my loose stool issue.  Honestly, I feel (act) just fine but....  And Momma has a hair appointment scheduled for Friday.  It's a good thing we will be spending 4 nights there so there will be time to explore the area as well as keep all those appointments.

I'm Chloe
