Travel into Kansas

Woohooo!!  Another state to add to my map.

We hitched up this morning and I said good bye to all my squirrelly friends....the gray squirrels, the red squirrels and the black squirrels.

The whole time we were stowing away our outside items, the neighbor's dog yipped and yowled and raised its loud bark.  So rude!!  It appeared that the lady had headed for the showers while the man was packing up and ignoring the dog who was stashed in their truck raising a ruckus.  I was sure glad when we pulled out.  I needed some peace and quiet.

As we headed south, we ran into some sprinkles that lasted only a few miles.  I guess you could call our travels 'in and out of rain' as we traveled into another area with light rain and then back out of it again.  By the time we reached the Kansas border, the rain had stopped but we are wearing road grime again.

As luck would have it, we came by an accident involving three vehicles in an area where the traffic was confined to one lane due to construction.  Did you notice I mentioned luck?  The long line of stopped traffic was headed in the opposite direction.  That incident made the nightly local news, probably because everyone was at  standstill for over an hour and a half.  We sympathized with them as we pasted by the L O N G line of vehicles, with just a dozen miles left for our travels.  Whew!  So glad we dodged that mess!!

Our check in was so easy.  We pulled up to the gate by the building and a gal came out to us with our car pass, gate card and map.  No need to even get out of the Ram.  A nice smooth landing.....until Dad turned on the water and....

oops....those are some wet pants.  Everyone got a good laugh over that incident!

We will only be here for two nights.  If you hurry, you could join us as there are empty sites available.
