Irvington CG site 7
Menomonie, WI
Momma said there is nothing better than having your own special tour guide who knows the area well because she lives here.....
and raised her family here.Cousin Missy with husband Don and son Corey
Menomonie has a charming 1889 building that has been lovingly cared for and offers stage performances.
Missy shared that the original patrons had reserved theatre seats that were custom made to body size....and most patrons were of small build back in the day. She happened to be seated in one of those 'smaller' seats and found it a tad cramped. But they have since upgraded the seating to what more comfortably accommodates the population's current larger body size.

The downtown area of Menomonie has charm, enhanced by the floral arrangements and pavers that accent the sidewalks. As luck would have it, the Fiber Lab was open even though it was a Sunday afternoon. They have a beautiful collection of soft yarns as well as fabric for sale. Momma was impressed by this pot holder that is a combination of fabric and silicone.
Missy led the gang to the Candy Shop that boasts several rooms of international candies as well as hand dipped ice cream treats. What a collection of sweets! Check out this sign that hangs in the shop.
Ellsworth Creamery has a been recognized as the "Cheese Curd Capital of Wisconsin". They have branched out and built an Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery in Menomonie.
As you enter the building, you are greeted with an inviting table of cheese curd samples. The table held just of few of the numerous curd flavors available for purchase. On a production day, the cheese making process can be observed through the glass windows.
Momma said the ice cream was delightful and noticed that the price for the root beer float was half the cost of the Walls Drug price.

On the way to the old cemetery with tombstones in the 1800's, a family of deer crossed the road without a qualm over the car traveling on the road.
It was definitely a well rounded, interesting tour of Menomonie thanks to the wonderful tour guide, Cousin Missy. I only wish I had been invited to join the two-legged.
