Dad to the rescue

 August 14, 2025

Oakwood CG site 70

Clear Lake, Iowa

Sadly we left my campground with the wonderful play yard, hopped on I-35 and headed north.  It wasn't long before Momma was capturing a picture of the Missouri - Iowa border crossing.

Our GPS was chirping about taking exit 137B to stay on I-35.  It was a left exit according to the GPS but......as it turned out, there has been new construction so instead of being in the far left of the three lanes, we should have been in the far right.  Oooops!!

They say everything happens for a reason...which isn't always immediately apparent.  We 'took the scenic route' traveling on I-80, getting off at an exit and heading back south to take the ramp to I-35.   About ten miles down the road, we took our mid-travel rest break at a rest area.  Our extra travel made our timing perfect to lend a helping hand.

The owner of this Puma walked over as soon as we stopped to ask if we had a tire wrench.  He had a flat tire, but unfortunately, hadn't pack his tools.
He backed onto a staircase of blocks to get the tire off the ground and Dad and Pam had that tire off in no time.

And the spare on.

The couple were on their way to Wisconsin to a music festival and had only been on the road for just over an hour.
Our timing was perfect to supply the needed tools and lend a helping hand.

Once again we had a delightful, friendly, efficient arrival at our campground.  The host had all our paperwork made out for us and her husband escorted us to our l o o n n g g site.  I'm thinking at least two rigs..possibly three could fit on this site.  The hook ups are located between two rigs facing opposite directions.

Each rig has a grass area on the door side with a concrete patio, table and fire pit.  Pam is parked on our door side so there is a nice    l o n g grass area between us.  My new play yard.

The grass isn't quite as thick, but there is plenty of distance to get up some speed.  Momma, you did a great job finding this campground.

No, I'm not trying to butter you up with that compliment so that you will forgive me.  I mean, after all, I was only trying to help.  At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it!  I can't help it if that stick of butter was right there in front of my nose.  It was getting ready to slide out of the basket that you set on the floor when we travel and I was just trying to keep it from sliding out.  I really can't help it if my teeth are sharp and they broke through the wrapper.

And that made me gulp and swallow.  You don't really think your baby would attempt to eat that stick of butter, do you?

You did manage to get another stick of butter to room temperature so you could whip up some peach muffins.  It all worked out in the end.

I'm Chloe
