Irvington Campground site 7
Menomonie, Wisconsin
As we packed up to depart this well maintained county campground, Momma marveled once again about the organized hook ups that were attractively located and were easy to mow around.
The host took pride in his responsibilities and was already hard at work readying a vacated site for the next occupants. Impressive!
As we traveled on this cloudy, overcast, gloomy day, we kept wondering if indeed we would be rained upon, but luckily, the moisture we received was only a couple of short sprinkles. Momma had brought her raincoat into the truck. I thought it was to wear when the rain began but she said it was to keep the rain from falling. If you are prepared for rain, it won't happen.
We passed numerous fields of crops...corn and soybeans seeming to be the most popular crops.
Momma was ready to capture the border sign for entering Wisconsin and just as the sign came into view, the road turned into a wild, whoop-de-doo but she had snapped the pic just before she went flying in the air.You really didn't need a sign to know that you had changed states. The change in road quality was sign enough.
As we pulled into our new site, walking around the rig to check door placement as well as hook up locations, Dad discovered we had an issue. He just couldn't believe his eyes. Another slide cable had broken and needed to be changed out. He decided to deal with that issue tomorrow so our driver side slide is only 80% deployed which really didn't matter as we had plans. Mamma's cousin had extended an invitation for dinner and they knew they would be in for a treat as Missy always has a great garden.
Her raised beds had produced green beans, cabbage for our coleslaw, vine ripe tomatoes and cucumbers to go with the grilled meats. And for dessert, rhubarb squares (and yes, Momma got the recipe!). The tasty potato casserole wasn't made from her home grown potatoes as they were grated.
But before the delicious dinner, everyone spent time in the repurposed silo top gazebo catching up. The wood that used to be the old decking off the house was repurposed for the gazebo as well. Add Missy's green thumb for colorful plants and you have a marvelous finished product. Even the cats love it.
Hello Don |
Their whole yard is inviting and colorful.
The weather cooperated to turn it into a lovely afternoon for spending a relaxing afternoon with family.
