Scenic Park Campground site 5
South Sioux City, NE
I had rained during the night before we moved onto our site and with the shortage of gravel, our site was a mud hole. We tried to situate us on the long, wide site so that we wouldn't be standing in a mud hole when removing set up items from the bay on the driver's side or landing in a mud hole when we stepped off our entrance steps.
Thank goodness the weather was clear today so the ground could begin to dry out.Today the two legged headed out for the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center. Everyone was quite impressed with the set up. The outside of the building had lovely landscaping with interesting statues.
The displays inside were top notch as well. There were marvelous displays with several life sized models that spoke and moved when a button activated them.
There was also a movie that went into detail explaining how the expedition came to be.
It was a very well done exhibit....and it was free.
It has been a while since we last washed the rig....not because we didn't think it needed it. We just happened to travel from campground to campground with 'no washing vehicles' restrictions until we arrived at this community park. With the restriction lifted, we took advantage of the opportunity and washed both the truck and the rig this evening. We sparkle once again.
This park is a great bargain. For $33 a night, we have full hook up with 50 amp service and cable hook up, all in a nice setting that would be ideal if there was a nice layer of gravel to park on. Maybe they will be adding more gravel before the summer ends. Today they repainted the large white arrows on the paved interior roads to indicate travel direction on the one way park roads. The flower gardens are also well maintained. Dad noticed three piles of gravel which is probably a good indication that the sites will be receiving additional gravel soon. Too bad that task wasn't completed before we arrived.
I have been enjoying the lush, green grass and ample spacing between rigs giving me room for ball chasing.
Life is good in Nebraska.
I'm Chloe
