Yellowstone is on our way.

Today's travel today was another one of those load up the photo gallery trips.  Our path took us into Yellowstone via the East Gate and out the West Gate.  We were in three states today: Wyoming, Montana and Idaho.

We were well on our way to 8,000 feet (but short about 500 feet) before we began our descent driving around Lake Yellowstone.

while others found a warm spot to take an afternoon rest.

The west side seemed to have more trees rather than the dead wood and beginnings of rebirth of the east side.

The last four miles of today's trip made a lasting impression as everything shifted inside from the poor condition of the road....and then the pavement ended with over 2 miles still to go.  EGADS!  This washboard, unpaved road is just as unsettling as the first couple of miles but now we have added a cloud of dust that just intensified.  It seems that the pickup truck didn't want to eat our dust so he zoomed past us at a high rate of speed in a literal cloud of dust.  Where did the road go? Can't see a thing!  Thank goodness the unpaved portion lasted only half a mile, but even though there was no more dust, the road was still a rough ride.

We were greeted by a friendly gentleman on a golf cart who asked Momma to go inside while he escorted Dad and I to our site.  He told Momma he'd be back to give her a gold cart ride to her site.  Another escort lead Pam to her site, right beside ours.  Janice and Robin had arrived just before us as they decided on an earlier start this morning.

Momma took the advice of the gals in the office who recommended Trout Hunter as a great place to take Janice for her birthday dinner.

The service was top-notch, the food was tasty and they even sang to the birthday gal as they delivered a birthday dessert...with extra spoons.

The highlight of my day though was seeing that nice green grassy area right by my rig. just off the cement patio area.  Hurry up and finish your chores Dad.  I've got my ball sighted and I'm ready to PLAY!
