Red Trail RV Park site R
Medora, ND
Robin and Janice arrived last Wednesday with no brakes on their camper. Upon investigation, it appears the pins that hold the caliper in place on the front driver side tire fell out. The caliper then was free to rotate/spin around and damage the wheel, rotor and pads as well as damage the brake line which caused all the brake fluid to leak out resulting in no brakes to any of the wheels.
A parts order was placed, paying the extra fee for two day delivery. Let's see. Parts ordered on Wednesday. Two day delivery should mean arrival of parts on Friday.....but that didn't happen.
Today, Monday, the parts finally made it to the campground and the discovery was made that the part wasn't what was expected. The rotor that came was the style that goes on the hub rather than a full hub rotor...one piece unit. And we are scheduled to depart tomorrow.....sooo....
The guys spent the better part of the day reinstalling all the old parts minus the brake for that wheel. They plugged the brake line to that wheel and added brake fluid for the open lines to the rest of the wheels. I hope I got all that right. To look at the tires, you would never know that there is an issue that still needs to be addressed whenever the right parts make their way to us.
While the guys were crawling around and working under the rig, Janice assumed the role of 'go-for' seeking items from the parts store 30 miles away. Momma washed sheets, towels and of course the last load of the day was the 'work' clothes Dad wore for the task at hand.
We only have 120 miles to travel tomorrow for a one night stopover in Buffalo on our way to Custer, South Dakota, where we have reservations for 6 nights.
I sure hope we get away from these nightly rain storms. I guess that's one of the reasons Dad's clothes got so filthy working today. The area hadn't totally dried out so he gathered some mud on his backside as we aren't parked on pavement.
It's also one of the reasons Dad says we can't play ball in the morning as the mud would get between my toes. I'm really not the 'lady' he is trying to make me into. I'm not worried the least about mud, even though my ball doesn't taste as good when smeared in mud.
I'm Chloe
