Theodore Roosevelt National Park

July 19, 2025

Red Trail RV Park site R

Medora, North Dakota

Theodore Roosevelt National Park covers a large area.  Having previously toured the south unit, today the two-legged headed for the north unit.  I think they are called units because the interior roads don't connect the two areas.  The north unit entrance is approximately an hour away off of hwy 85, which wouldn't normally be an issue, but when the rain began on the road that had two troughs, formed by tires, that filled with rain water, on top of the strong cross wind, the drive wasn't a relaxing trip.  The good thing was, it wasn't raining at the north entrance to the park, although the wind was still present.

The buffalo were there to greet everyone as they entered the entrance gate taking away the doubt of whether or not any animals would be spotted.

As it turned out, only buffalo and turkeys were visible from the interior roads, sometimes sharing the road with the vehicles.

Unfortunately, the elk, prong horn and mountain goats weren't visible during the trip.

And once again, the scenery made up for the lack of animals available to be viewed.

That predicted rainfall is happening tonight but unfortunately, it is accompanied by some thunder and lightning that I REALLY don't like.  I'm glad Momma and Dad are here to protect me.  Momma told me to think happy thoughts ....like the game of ball chase I got to play earlier this afternoon before dinner....and all will be well.

I'm Chloe
