Cody Trout Ranch Camp site 24
Cody, Wyoming
Happy 4th to everyone!!
Once again, Cody closed off the street for a morning parade. As we routed ourselves around the parade area, we were amazed at how far away people were parking for the parade. Momma had heard someone mention that they easily had over 500 spectators for the parade.
Once again, the two-legged decided to avoid the crowd and headed to Buffalo Bill Dam and Visitor Center.
Momma had been talking about the great scenery around our campgroundBut she had to admit, the views around the dam were even more impressive.
Even the dam bugs were something to oohh over.
The construction on the dam began in 1905 with the thoughts of irrigation for this desert like/dry area and took 5 years to complete paying workers three dollars for a 10 hour day of work.
It has since been upgraded in height as well as adding the visitor center where you can view a film on the construction of the dam. Quite the project, especially for the years 1905-1910 with the equipment that was available.
This whole area is worth seeing, including the highway to the dam that takes you through a series of tunnels.
It was a nice touch to be shuttled from the parking lot to the visitor center next to the dam by a very congenial driver.
