Rain

 July 3, 2023

Dunromin Waterfront CG site D5

Granville Ferry, NS

We woke up to rain...not a drizzle...it was RAIN..and on a travel day!!  Dad checked the radar app on his phone and said, "Well, we will be packing up in the rain and driving in the rain...and probably setting up in the rain as well."

The good thing was, we didn't have much packing up to do.  Remember when I told you that the well water isn't safe to drink here?  Dad filled our fresh water tank before arriving so we never hooked up our water hose.  And seeing as there is no sewer at the site, we never put out a sewer hose.  The only things to pick up were the blocks under the jacks and the power cord.  Of course we did get the sewer hose out at the dump station but we only had a small amount in our tanks so it emptied quickly.  Uncle Steve wasn't able to make the same claim about emptying quickly.  He had a slow stream for his gray tank rather than a full hose stream.  Something is amiss, but it is a project for a non-rainy day.

The first leg of our trip was on the bumpy section of Hwy 2 that follows the shoreline...in other words...had lots of curves.  But the majority of the day was on four lane road.

About the time that we were ready for a stretch break, the light on the dash indicating water in the fuel had appeared.  Luckily, we located a nice lot with plenty of room on the backside of a Petro Station just off the highway.

Dad got out his 'travel creeper' and crawled under the Ram to release/empty the water in the fuel.  Now in case you are curious, his 'travel creeper' is an old vinyl tablecloth.  It rolls up nicely.  And it keeps your body off the ....in this case ...wet ground.  But as things don't always go quite as planned, he managed to get some diesel fuel on his shirt.  Time for a change of clothes. And the creeper, which also smelled of diesel, got tossed in the dumpster.

So we were back on the road and getting nearer to our destination, but it was not a great day for taking pictures

unless you want pictures of rain.

Uncle Steve claims this campground is the muddiest campground he has EVER been to.  He's lucky he's not in site #3.

which is totally under water.  He just has standing water around his connections.
But they have had so much rain in this area lately that the ground is saturated and with the tight entrance to the site, you have to drive over the grass, which unfortunately turned into muddy ruts.

We are parked side by side and Uncle Steve and Aunt Carol put on their boots and raincoats to visit me.  And while they were here, they stayed a bit longer to play Swoop.

They say rain is good napping weather.

I think I agree with that statement.

I'm Chloe
