Woodhaven CG site F11
Hammonds Plains, NS (just outsde of Halifax)
Travel day today and we are delighted to be leaving the mosquitos behind us. We waved good bye to Castle Lakes Campground...yes, we all managed to find our way to the gate on the meandering path making turns onto the different roads needed to arrive at the exit.
Uncle Steve said that Castle Lake Campground has the highest rating for road design confusion in all his years of RVing. There is no pattern for the roads.... or road names either. They get a high score for maze.
As we were watching Uncle Steve put the finishing touch on his tow vehicle connection, we observed a group of children headed for the swings with plenty of skin showing. Dad thought they were challenging the mosquitos to take a bite of them with all that tempting skin exposure. Can you tell that Dad HATES mosquito bites? I guess you really can't blame him though as his itchy welts seem to last for a good 3 days. I can't say that I did disagree with that sediment as I have a big red welt right on my long nose. Ouch!! Maybe it's time I learn how to use the inside toilet in the bathroom (or should I refer to it as a washroom as the Canadians do?) I usually love a nice long walk though....without pesky mosquitos around.
It was a pretty straight forward drive on Hwy 103.
The trip began with some fog from the low hanging clouds, but it seemed to develop into misty rain off and on during our journey. The Hwy 103 was designed to assist the flow of traffic becoming a 4 lane highway around the more populated areas, adding a passing lane when the angle of the highway became a steep climb and using deceleration and acceleration lanes for the popular exits. In other words, it was an uneventful trip....until our arrival.

Some of us settled into our site without any glitches, while some of us battled unsuccessfully to find a position on the spot of land designated as a camping site. Want to take a guess who the unlucky one was?
Dad made the comment that it was a good thing Uncle Steve gassed up before arriving at his sloping site. He used quite a bit of it trying different creative angles of parking to keep his wheels somewhat close to the ground. By the time the jacks finished their leveling routine, I could have walked under the front tires without ducking!! So they put blocking under the wheels and Momma and Dad left them to finish setting up. The Ram needed to be refueled as they had an appointment with the audiologist tomorrow morning.
When they arrived back at our site, they were surprised to see that the area behind us was vacant. They looked at me and asked me if I had done something to offend them. Who ME? I would NEVER jeopardize my delicious treats from Auntie Carol!!
It appears Aunt Carol saved the day. She took a look at the slides and noticed that they were off kilter. It would probably crack the slide if they tried to open it while it was pinched on one side with a large space on the other in its home position. Uncle Steve had read some sad tales about just that experience You would be talking some major repair if that happened.
So now Uncle Steve has all 4 wheels on the ground and is located one row over from us. He got to set up one more time.
And we have an empty site behind us.
Maybe I'll get lucky. We might get new neighbors who have dog treats in their pockets to share with me!!
I'm Chloe
