Dunromin Waterfront CG site D5
Granville Ferry, NS
What a wonderful sight after yesterday's enless rain. It may be cloudy, but it isn't raining!! Now if we could just get some sun to dry up this muddy, grassy area, I could enjoy my stay here. Dad said it is just too muddy for me to do anymore than take walks so I can attend to business. I've been restricted to 'in the rig' until it dries up. At least I can sit on the inside steps and look out the door window.
Now here's something to crow about. I can see it from my window view. It's a one of a kind, superior design, marvelous piece of ingenuity. And it really is very useful...especially when it is raining. Uncle Steve calls it 'the cover'. And what is it covering and protecting? His electric power cord connection to his surge protector.
The surge protector is plugged into the electric box which has a cover. Then his power cord is plugged into the other end of the surge protector and that connection is exposed to the climate of the day.All that is needed is a pail, string, camper's lego blocks and you have created a useful masterpiece. A one of a kind!! Great job Uncle Steve!!
So today, the 2-legged headed into Annapolis Royal which is less than 5 minutes away. St George Street is the closest street to the water and has some shops and restaurants residing in the old waterfront buildings.
Right on the water is a boardwalk...just behind those old buildingsThat brown stuff on the water's edge looks like foam....something you might see on a cup of coffee with a frothy topping. I guess it is caused by the electrical generating power plant that stirs up the water and sand creating the foam. Everyone told Aunt Carol she needed to stick her feet in the water/foam and there it was....a set of stairs...to take her down to the water. "Hold my purse!"
No one will tell me if she really did take off that sneaker and stick her foot in the foaming water.
This lighthouse will rate a pretty decent score from the gang.
Here's another shocker. In New Brunswick, at Century Farm Campground, there was an empty phone booth across from the laundry building. Reminicent of days gone by. But here in Annapolis Royal is an actual pay phone. They have become obsolete since cell phones have taken over. Momma said she couldn't remember the last time she had seen an operational pay phone. Well, this area is known for its history! The boardwalk ended by the wharf. This ship will need lots of repair before it becomes sea worthy once again.
At the Historic Gardens in Annapolis Royal, the roses were in full bloom...and a bit tattered from the heavy rain.
What a marvelous collection of trees and plants on display as you travel the walkways on this 17 acres of paradise. Many were unusual flowering plants
The white lilac tree at the entrance was extremely fragrant, extending a sweet welcome.
Momma said she wore down her phone's battery with all the pics she snapped, but the pictures don't really capture the beautiful, in-person scenery.
