Halifax Public Gardens: what beauty!!

 July 15, 2023

Woodhaven CG site F11

Hammonds Plains, NS (near Halifax)

Today, being a Saturday, there is free parking in Halifax.  No money in the meters or paying at the kiosk.  It is also a perfect day weather wise.  So everything pointed toward a day in the Public Gardens....which is a gorgeous setting and well maintained!!

But....before we could venture to the park, they just had to make a stop at Uncle Steve's new favorite store.  Both guys walked out with 'treasures' under their arms.

I'm getting worried that Uncle Steve may go into withdrawals if there are no Canadian Tire stores in Newfoundland.

Now talk about luck!  Uncle Steve circled the block and there it was.  The perfect FREE parking spot at the end of the street, close to the garden entrance by just walking across the street.  You couldn't have found a more convenient spot.  It was meant to be!!  The gardens are calling!!

Such inviting surroundings with benches strategically placed throughout the park.

The flower placements are well thought out.  This weekend is the Indigenous Games for 2023.  Check this out.

The weekend theme is even supported at the Public Gardens.  Amazing!!

Dad's eyes lit up when he saw the coffee shop.  The outdoor tables made a perfect setting for enjoying a late morning break.

And Uncle Steve was pleased to see a pond named Griffin Pond.  He was trying to tell me a story about how his ancestors created the pond.....but I'm just not buying his tale.

The pond even had goldfish swimming in it.  Dad was looking for a gator.  I wonder if he was homesick for Florida?

The park holds quite a variety of garden shapes, as well as smaller ponds with bridges, statues, and endless types of plants and flowers.  Very impressive with a tranquil setting.

Momma said all those photos that were taken to be shared don't come near expressing the beauty of actually being there.  All those rich colors of the healthy plants.  You can tell they are well loved and tended to!!

What a grand way to conclude our visit to this area.  Tomorrow is travel day once again and more adventures in another area of Nova Scotia.

I'm Chloe
