A ride around Halifax

 June 12, 2023

Woodhaven CG, site F11

Hammonds Plains, NS  (near Halifax)

Today was exploration day.  The gang loaded up in the jeep to check out the Halifax area.  But before I get into that, I need to share a story.

Momma got up, and as usual, put in her hearing aids.  It was the first morning with her new aids so it was the first time she got to hear the powering on musical notes that the aids play when they boot up.  After the musical tones, she heard a waterfall sound...that kept going....and going....and going.  She thought that was a rather strange thing for the manufacture to do....and then the 'light when on'.  She had started the clothes washer and the tub was filling with water.  She had never heard that sound before.  She is now functioning in the 'world of the hearing'!

Halifax, an Atlantic Ocean port in eastern Canada, is the provincial capital of Nova Scotia.  It is also the world's second largest natural harbor.

A very metopolitan area with lots of public transportation, including a ferry.

As they were touring the city, they stopped at the Casino.

Not to play.  Just to pick up some playing cards.....for free!!  Can't beat that price and with the way they play games, they always have cards that need replacing.

They even took the bridge over to Dartmouth which cost them a loonie and a quarter. ($1.25)

Uncle Steve found a spot on the map named Shannon's Park which sounded interesting so they made that their next destination.  It might even be as interesting as the area down by the ferry terminal that was crowded with no empty parking spots.

They followed the voice of GPS guidance and wound up at
this empty, baracaded, desserted piece of land.
Well, that definitely turned out to be an interesting outcome!!  From overcrowded, highly populated to forgotten, abandoned.  That was a bust.

Even the ice cream treat they sought out later turned out to be a....'we won't be coming back to Cows again' experience.

The only cones they had were the ones pictured above.  Now they look okay, but when you bite into it, you wonder if your teeth will hold up....especially when you get down toward the bottom where the wrap is thick and heavy.
Dad was the only smart one.  He had his ice cream put in a dish.  I can assure you, with my teeth that can tackle bone treats, I wouldn't have had any problem devouring that ice cream cone!

I'm Chloe
