Woodstock vs Woodford

 September 25, 2024

Greenwood Lodge and CG site 38

Woodford, Vermont

Momma said she really messed up....but I'm thinking things are looking pretty good.  Our new location is 85 miles from Woodstock  (with the curving roads, we are talking nearly 2 hours travel time) and all the POI's Momma has listed are near Woodstock.  And where are we staying?   Woodford, Vermont.  I think she got her wood's tangled up.  We are actually on the outskirts of Bennington.  But the site we have landed in is removed from the main site loop and has LOADS of grass in an area just made for chasing a ball.  I might enjoy being here....if the rain subsides.  Forecast is more rain tomorrow.

The day began with off and on showers so we picked the 'off'' times to pack up/hook up.  We headed south driving into and out of light showers.  The rain wasn't really an issue but the lack of sunshine did mute the colors.  I'm sure you've heard of 'follow the yellow brick road'.  Well we followed the golden orange lined road that would have been much more brilliant with some sunlight.

We are definitely noticing more color and not as much green.

Now if there is an issue to really gripe about, it's the temperature.  It never got out to the 50's today...just barely making it to 55.

I do have a question for everyone.  Check out the steeple on this church.

That is not a picture of a house in front of the church.

Have you ever seen a church with a steeple in this position?  Is there a height code that would have been violated by positioning the steeple on the very top of the roof?  Was the crane not tall enough?  I just found it very unusual and which prompted this internet search.

The First Presbyterian Church of Graniteville, Vermont, was begun for Scottish granite quarry workers, highlanders.  For many years, worship was held in both English and Gaelic languages.  We are a member of the Presbyterian Church, (USA), supporting its missions, as well as a generous contributor to the Graniteville and wider community needs.

So the story of the side steeple still reminds a mystery to me.

I'm Chloe
