Plattsburg RV -site 51

Plattsburg, New York

Let me introduce you to Commodore Thomas Macdonough.  Momma was impressed when she learned of his determination, prowess and success at the War of 1812 Museum.  His knowledge of the Lake Champlain coastline near Plattsburg, training of the inexperienced sailors he commanded and strategy for battle on the water in the war held September 1814 turned the tide and had the British ships surrendering.  Impressive for a 30 year old.

The War of 1812 Museum is housed in one of the buildings that was part of the Airforce Base here in Plattsburg.  The museum self- guided tour begins with a 7 minute video that retells the highlights of the War of 1812.  Wall plaques, pictures and memorabilia share the history.

Another building houses the PAFB (Plattsburg Air Force Base) Museum.  The building is stuffed with items including a training console

The last role of the base before it closed was called 'alert'.  When Airmen rotated to on duty status, they lived on the base in 'alert' status, participating in training and ready to take to the skies should the need arise.

Before returning to me, the two-legged went to the Twisted Carrot

for fantastic service by a waitress with novel earrings
Everyone chose a different meal...and they ALL were superb with great presentation on the plates.

And by the time they returned to me, our new neighbors were just about set up on their site. Momma said she saw a cute German Shepherd pup next door.  I wonder if I have found a new playmate??
