Smoke Rise CG site 34
Brandon, Vermont
Would you believe....they advertise ....open daily.
And the two-legged arrived about 30 minutes after the scheduled, posted opening timebut alas, the lights were out and the door was locked. With such a welcoming website, it was a true surprise!So....on down rt 7 and into Rutland where using the Open Road card, diesel could be purchased at a lower rate. After touring Rutland and neighboring Wallingford, the two-legged reversed directions and low and behold not only were the lights on
The gal said she was late opening up this morning. So they got to tour the Maple Syrup Museum after all as well as make purchases.
The museum told the story of the discovery of the sweet syrup by the Indians.
The Indians used hollowed out logs and heated the sap by dropping red-hot stones into the vessel to bring the sap to boiling. The museum had an extensive collection of sap collecting items with detailed instructions on how to 'tap' a tree without damaging itas well as items used to turn the sap into syrup and sugar.Packaging history was also on display
The samples of maple syrups, jams and a variety of mustards, including a maple mustard, were sampled which naturally led to purchases.
I LOVED the maple shortbread cookies Dad opened up for coffee break.I'll tell you what Dad, just give me my own cookie and you won't have to share yours.
I'm Chloe
