Smoke Rise CG site 34

Brandon, Vermont

Another interesting travel day.  We had decided on a leisurely departure around 10am....which somehow turned into a leisurely departure at 9:20.  I guess everyone was ready to get a move on this morning heading into

With a hope of locating some colorful fall foliage.
Just a hint of color

Still too early for colorful views

Consulting our GPS, RV Life Trip Wizard routing and Pam's GPS we found that 2 out of the 3 agreed on a route.  Now we are really wondering if that was really the best choice.  It was a matter of traveling north on 30 and east on 73 to 7 or staying on 4 at Castleton to Rutland and traveling a longer stretch north on 7.  Picture it as a rectangle .....which two sides should we travel?

30 was a pretty ride along Lake Bomoseen and Lake Hortenia for part of the trip

but the driver really didn't get to take in much of the view.  Too much concentration needed to keep the wheels on the highway.  The road was rough which was unsettling to the items in the rig but on top of that, the road dipped from side to side making us sway.  A challenge to stay on a straight ahead setting.  We even came upon a rock slide area that narrowed the road to one lane traffic controled by a stop light.

It's a good thing we had enjoyed a wonderful rest stop/break at Hillbilly's just outside of Lake George, NY where we were joined by Momma's sister, brother-in-law, as well as Momma's neice's family.

Hillbilly's serves up ice cream treats.

Dad decided to make his a lunch treat with fruit plus diary....in other words...a banana split.

Glad he was fortified for the drive in Vermont.

I'm Chloe
