Gros Morne RV CG site 62
Rocky Harbour, NL
Momma, why are you out of bed so early again this morning? Did you wake up itchy again? I think you have bags under your eyes!!
I can't believe my Momma is up before 6 again. It seems the bug bite anti-itch stick doesn't last enough hours to see her past 5 am. Those nippers are about the size of our Florida gnats but the bite welts are huge....some as large as 2-3 inches where it appears there is a cluster of bites. I'm not sure what is in the bug's saliva that thins the blood, but Momma and Dad are definitely allergic to it! About the only good thing is, the welts are all from the waist up. So far, no bites on legs and feet. Momma and Dad have been comparing bite welts. Right now, Momma is in the lead. For some reason, the Griffin's don't seem to be attractive to the nippers.
There is really no reason to be up and stirring around this early. I know it's travel day, but departure isn't until 9:30am. The first part of the trip will be on THC 1 which is good road for traveling. When we get off on 430, we will be challenging Uncle Steve's motorhome to climb some pretty steep/long hills. With the curve going into the hill, you can't really get any speed up for a strong start. Slow and steady will get him to the top.
Momma spent the first 20 minutes of the ride smashing the little black bugs against the windshield. It was a race to see if she could kill them before they bit us. Way too many hitchhikers in the vehicle.
The scenery is just breath taking once again on this side of Newfoundland. As Aunt Carol says, "This has the Alaska views beat!"
It is a cloudy day with rain in the forecast for Rocky Harbour, but that hasn't put a damper on anything. Just toned down the hillside views a tad.
We have been assigned to the area of this campground that resembles a big gravel parking lot.
Upon arrival, she told us to pick out our site and let her know which one we set up in. They are all full hookup 30 amp sites. The center sites are pull through while the back in sites are around the edges. As you can see, we are in the center pull thru area with lots of empty sites around us.
It was off to the Visitor's Center after a stop at Aunt Sarah's for an ice cream happy hour treat.
To everyone's delight, the agent working on a Sunday was well informed and willing to share that info in an understandable way. Lots of choices for things to do in this gorgeous area. Now the REAL bonus to this campground is the strong wifi at our site. Blog posts won't be a challenge while we are here!! And I can't play ball as there is no grass for me, so I guess I'll have loads of time to write.
I'm Chloe
