Another day on PEI

 August 25, 202

Pine Hills RV site 71

Charlottetown, PE

It all began with a postcard that a daughter sent to her dad.  He was retired and inspired to build bottle houses using thousands of bottles cemented together.

The cathedral even has bench bottle pews

The family has taken on the task of rebuilding the creations that had begun to deteriorate over time.

The gardens surrounding the buildings have been designed and nurtured with loving care.

The next stop was the lighthouse just a few miles down the highway.

Some unexpected hitch hikers stormed the inside of the Ram...hungry mosquitoes who smelled a feast.  It was a battle to see how many would meet their demise before they had a taste of human blood.

After yesterday's restaurant disappointment, everyone was a tad hesitant to try another recommendation from the same gal as they passed through Summerside.  The recommendation was for Holman's Homemade Ice Cream served in the historic home of the Holman family.

So many flavors to choose from.
Seeing as this was considered lunch, the guys opted for a sundae.  Blueberry lemon and Chocolate chocolate.

The consenus was good ice cream but Fielder's Choice in Bangor, Maine still takes first place.  Thanks Rosemary and Ken for the Fielder's Choice recommendation.

When we depart Prince Edward Island on Monday, we will be taking the 8 mile Confederation Bridge.  It took 4 years at a cost of 1 billion dollars to complete the bridge in June 1997.

There is no charge to arrive on PEI.  You only pay when you depart.  The ferry price is 40% higher than the bridge pricing so we got a bargain when we arrived as our route had us arriving via ferry.  We will depart via bridge on Monday paying a per axle price...$67.25 total for our six axles.  That's $8.40 a mile or $6.73 a minute as it should take us ten minutes to travel the bridge.

Aunt Carol found another black and white dog to share her treats        with as she was walking around our campground.

I think she should have taken me with her so I could have made a new friend.

I'm Chloe
