Sanger Memorial CG site 43
Grand Falls-Winsdsor
We had heard that Newfies were friendly people, and Marion, the gal from across the road who greeted us yesterday, certainly proved that point today. She arrived at our site bearing sundaes ~~ soft serve vanilla ice cream swirled with strawberries and a cherry on top.
Once again, she offered her assistance if needed. Welcome to Newfoundland😊
There is an Airplane Museum in nearby Gander.
Dad read the ‘about this museum info’ and decided that he couldn’t really see driving an hour to Gander just to see a half dozen older planes …especially after being spoiled visiting such great air museums in Pensacola, Fl and Macon, Ga. His priority for the day was to visit a barber. He found O’Reilly’s
and was seated right away in the barber chair. A quick, efficient cut by the female barber and he was smiling once again. Have I ever mentioned how handsome my Dad is?
Uncle Steve and Aunt Carol decided to visit the museum in Gander which had a focus on WWII.
Uncle Steve even tried out the flight simulator.
They took the recommendation of the attendant at the Visitor’s Center and enjoyed lunch at Rosie’s.
Being a Thursday, Jiggs Dinner was on the menu so Uncle Steve decided to give it a try. It’s a corn beef and cabbage dinner that got its name from being the favorite dish of Jiggs, the main character in a world-wide comic strip.
Aunt Carol ordered white meat chicken but legs and thighs were brought to her. They were out of white meat so they just decided to substitute. So she ordered the turkey without gravy….and it arrived swimming in gravy. By the time they finally got Aunt Carol’s order straight, Uncle Steve was nearly done with his dinner.
Meanwhile, Dad and Momma had gone exploring in Grand Falls
after I got my pedicure on the Ram tailgate.
Grand Falls appears to be a typical town with an older section that
housed a bank, reality, law office, etc.
In other words, no cute shops. Out
by TCH 1, they found a good-sized Canadian Tire. Just down the road, right across the parking
lot from each other, were a neighborhood Walmart, Sobeys and Dominion. I think Dominion was the favorite as it had
the items that they had given up on finding in Newfoundland. Nice clean, well-stocked store.
Being a sunny day, it was perfect grilling weather. Ribeye on the grill for dinner.
Riverside Convenience Store sells hand dipped ice cream as well as numerous other items. Waffle cones all the way around.
Our campground is close to the water which is down the
bank/hill from us. We drove into the boat
ramp/park area to check out the area.
Lots of ducks, boats and a few people enjoying the good outdoor
weather.
Even this retriever was having a good time chasing his water ball.
As evening drew near, Auntie Carol didn’t let me down. She made sure I got my evening treats before…and after..their game of Swoop.
I’m Chloe
