Signs of fall

 September 14, 2023

St. Johnsville Marina and CG site 8

St. Johnsville, NY

Momma and Dad received shots today.  No, not bullets.  Vaccine.  It is fall and that means time for flu shots.  It almost didn't happen.  Momma had scheduled their vaccinations on-line at the CVS in nearby Little Falls.  Just as they were departing the campground, Momma received a phone call letting her know that the pharmacy was closed and they rescheduled the appointment from 11 to 1.  When they showed up at one, the pharmacy was still closed even though the signage stated closed until noon.  They waited until 1 and when no one appeared to open the pharmacy, Dad found a store clerk who said the pharmacy would open at 1:25.    The sign also stated that the pharmacy would be closed for lunch from 1:30 to 2 daily.  By 1:35 they were about to give up when the pharmacist finally arrived.  It seems CVS is short staffed so the pharmacist was working a store in Clinton, NY in the morning and the Little Falls store in the afternoon.  I'm not sure if he got tied up at the Clinton store or just took a long lunch.

The first departure attempt from the campground didn't go unrewarded this morning.  They got to see a boat from Halifax, Nova Scotia just departing from the marina.

Our campground has 3 rows of sites.  The first row is considered waterfront sites as the sites are located along the Mohawk River.

The third row of sites are the closest to the train tracks that run parallel to the river.  We are located in the middle row.  Not the closest to the water in front of us
and not the closest to the trains running behind us.

Tonight's dinner was at Fat Katz, known for their seafood offerings.  As you enter the restaurant, there is a long counter with two ordering stations.  Arriving before the dinner crowd, only one gal was at the counter who Kathy spoke with, but the second gal stepped up to assist Momma and Dad. They placed their order and received a metal plate with a number to put on the holder at their their table.  Kathy joined them at the table with a number.  Then Bob joined them at the table with a number.
Three order numbers???  For two couples???  I think Bob wanted to make sure he received his dinner.  Kathy ordered from one cashier while Bob ordered from the other cashier. Oooop!! Cancel one order please.

Fish and Chips

After dinner, the gang took a ride through the countyside.  They passed thru the auction center where produce is auctioned off twice a week.

Pumpkins, pumpkins and more pumpkins.  Large pumpkins...tiny pumpkins...colorful pumpkins.....bumpy skinned pumpkins.  Boxes and boxes of pumpkins.  Yep, you can tell it is fall here even though the leaves haven't turned their pretty fall colors yet.

When they returned home to me, they decided on a game of Mexican Train to wrap up the evening.

Before climbing into bed tonight, Dad lifted up the bottom of the bed to expose the under the bed storage so Momma could grab the heavy down comforter.  The forecast was a nightime low of 44.  More signs that fall is upon us.

I'm Chloe
