St Johnsville Marina and Campground site 8
St Johnsville, NY
Country roads are on the travel agenda today as we head from Ogdensburg to St. Johnsville in New York State. We even passed a couple of horse and buggies as we toured the countryside.
Our midway stop was at Kayuta Drive-In for a light snack. It's right off the highway and has a big parking lot designated for oversized vehicles. As it turned out, we were lucky we picked today as our travel day. The waitress/owner said with bad weather forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday in combination with the summer season drawing to a close, they decided not to stay open on the next two days.
Momma and Dad enjoyed a cup of delicious homemade Broccoli Cheddar Soup...only a cup....so there would be room for a tasty treat. Warm berry pie with ice cream.
As a matter of fact, Momma and Dad enjoyed the soup so much, they bought extra and tucked it into the refrigerator....and here I was waiting patiently in the truck and I just KNEW that the container they were carrying back with them had to be for ME. It turned out to be wishful thinking. I didn't even get a smell!Momma drove the second leg of our journey as Dad's eye was feeling dry and bothering him. I really think he was full of pie and wanted to rest...but the road was a bit too bumpy and curvy for resting his eyes (sleep).
When we arrived, we looked pretty grimy so before they put out the slides, they grabbed a bucket of soapy water and a couple of long poles to wash and dry the rig.
The water pressure is intense here. Dad had hooked up an old expandable hose to the water spicket and all of a sudden, there was a balloon popping noise and a geyser in the middle of the hose where the inner tube had popped and split open. Okay, plan B. Install a water pressure regulator at the spicket and dig out another length of hose.We were about two thirds clean when friends Bob and Kathy arrived. They had an appointment nearby and they decided to ride thru the campground to see if we had arrived yet. I was sad that they didn't bring my friend Heidi, their white German Shepherd with them. Of course being on a lead wouldn't have been much fun for either of us. We love to run and romp together.
Kathy had a meeting that evening so they made future plans for getting together. With the 'on the go' schedule that we have been following, that worked out for the best. Some needed down time.
I'm Chloe
