A bit too loud

OH MAN!!  I thought something was going to get me for sure.  I was enjoying some fresh air while laying belly down in the grass.  Dad had just stepped inside and then......there was this horrendous, loud BANG!!  I wasn't about to stay outside.  I scampered up the steps and rang the doorbell in hopes Dad would be quick in opening the door.  I needed to be inside. This doorbell is a bit higher than my doggy doorbell I use at home, as this one is set up for use by the 2-legged. But I successfully made the stretch and reached it.

Dad told me that the noise was probably just a test for the fireworks that are going to take place Saturday evening at the Community Days Festival.  I'm not going to like that at all!!  Maybe we should be packing up so we can get out of here before all the racket begins.  You know I don't like the sound of fireworks!!  This is fall, not the fourth of July!!  I'm sure glad there was only ONE big boom today and not a whole bunch of them.  I don't mind the sound of the trains that roar by and even shake the ground a bit.  But those loud booms are just too much for me. Momma admitted that the noise made her jump as well.

This evening was much more enjoyable than this afternoon.   Bob and Kathy came over to play with me.  I can talk Bob into tossing my ball for me over and over.  Dad told me it was time to give it a rest as it was time for everyone to sit down at the table for dinner of ham steak from the grill with corn pudding, seasoned potatoes and creamy cucumbers.  Dad, where's my chair?  I thought you said 'everyone' needs to sit at the table.  

Well, I might not have been invited to the main course, but you can bet I got dessert....self served.  Yep, Momma turned her back from the serving plate and I stretched up there and plucked one of the squares of pumpkin cake with streusel topping right off the edge of the plate.  What a mouthful....but I managed to sneak off with it before Momma noticed there was one less piece on the serving plate.  Can I have some ice cream with mine as well?  Just turn your back for a second and I'll snag the bowl closest to me.  Come on Momma, just turn your back.  Oh well, at least my cake raid was a success.😋 

We had a grand start to our day today.  It was 47 degrees at sunrise.  I'm sure glad I have a nice warm nest.

It turned out to be a nice day, especially when the sun brought the temperature into the mid 70's.  A perfect day to grill out for dinner.  I hope tomorrow is a repeat of today's sunshining day...without all the loud noise.
