Bayou Segenette - site 1077
Westwego, Louisiana
Today I was left to guard our rig while the two-legged went off on an all day adventure to the WWII museum in New Orleans.
The museum is so large, it actually is made up of more than one building. Conveniently located across the street is a parking garage that everyone was able to use as we carpooled in the smaller cars rather then the trucks which would have been over height. The adventure began on a train ride....well, a simulated train ride. The seat bumped a bit. The sounds of train movement could be heard. The scenery outside the train car windows was a video giving the impression of scenery moving past the windows. The back of each bench seat was playing a video telling the story of the actual train travel that the men/boys would have experienced as they traveled and arrived at boot camp.
What a great first impression of what was in store for everyone at the museum. Well done!
Each room laid out the story of WWII from the beginning to the end, detailing the strategies and battles that took place until the Germans and Japanese surrendered, as well as the support from the Americans as they converted factories to produce needed war supplies. Lots of information all shared in a very high quality, informative, well planned presentation.
