Travel Day

April 2, 2024

Gunter Hill Campgrouind

Montgomery, Alabama

Some took the high road while others took the low road, but we all arrived safely at Gunter Hill COE Campground.

Dad took us on the more scenic route on River Road for the first leg of our trip.  It was a two lane country road with barely any traffic at all...as in two vehicles.  All the fields are turning a vibriant green as is typical for spring.  The road was lined with wild flowers, adding color to the landscape.  Quite a contrast to the last leg of the trip that was a four lane commercial area loaded with traffic that seemed to be displaying a 'me first' attitude.

We were sitting in the left double turn lane leaving room for the car in front of us, who realized too late to get fully in the turn lane, that that is where he needed to be.  Everyone's mouth dropped and Momma let out a gasp when a black car zipped in between us.  WHAT????  At least he did let the silver car into the turn lane and didn't totally try to cut him off.

This campground has a full hookup loop and a water/electric hookup loop.  I'm sad to report that not everyone was able to secure a full hookup site.  It's a case of the early bird getting the worm.  Sites tend to fill up quickly.

We managed to navigate the 170+ miles arriving in plenty of time to get set up and gather for happy hour, sharing tales of the drive as well of tales from the past, reliving prior travels.  Actually, the happy HOUR turned into a couple of hours.  Lots of tales to share!

That gave me plenty of time to work on Rick ...giving him the 'let's play look'.  When he didn't take action, I went to Louise.  Success!!  Ball time.  My happy game.  Run and chase until my tongue catches on my toenails.

And then I got REALLY lucky!!  This happy hour had 'shareable snacks'.  In other words, Dad shared some goodies with me.  Yummy!

Ahhh.....this is the good life for sure.  Traveling with friends...

I'm Chloe
