Cajun RV Festival - Day 3

 April 13, 2024

Isle of Iberia Resort - site 54

New Iberia, Louisiana

The day began with a project.  Remember when I mentioned how rough the roads were to arrive here?  Well, it seems the screws backed out of the wood slide valance with all the bouncing.  Time for a repair job.

With that taken care of, it was time to play.

Today the two legged headed off to tour the oldest independently owned rice mill operating in the United States.  The mill is housed in the same building since inception in 1912.

The tour guide shared the knowledge that many of the machines in use have not been upgraded over the years and still run efficiently without needing repair.  What's that saying, "They don't make things like they used to."

Every part of the rice, including the hulls are sold or put to use.

Debby and Michele decided to attend the painting session.  Check out their works of art!

Dinner tonight was Gumbo followed by music from Kevin Naquin and Cajun Preservation.  Lots of dancing and foot tapping.

But the first thing that took place, before dinner and dancing, was the nightly door prize drawings.  The night before, Dad's number was pulled and he won a bottle of Tabasco Sauce.  The first number drawn tonight belonged to Momma, who won a serving tray.
Now how did they ever get so lucky?

I'm Chloe
