Storms and Cajun RV Festival

 April 10-11, 2024

Isle of New Iberia Resorrt - site 54

New Iberia, Louisiana

Well, everyone was in a bit of a tizzy checking out the weather forecast all week for Wednesday.  A storm was predicted complete with rain, thunder/lightning, possible flash flooding, possible tornadoes.  Which path will it follow?  Can we head out a day early and beat it or will we be driving into it?

Final decision was to hunker down and ride it out which turned out to be a good move.  Thankfully, our area didn't have any severe weather unlike Slidell, about 50 miles to the northeast, which was hit with a tornado and quite a bit of damage and plenty of rain.

Thursday's weather gave us a much nicer travel day as we headed for Isle of New Iberia Resort

and the Cajun Festival due to kick off with dinner
Waiting for our table to be called as others were filling their plates
With 80 rigs, and most having at least 2 people in them, the room was full of people and the food line went around the room with tables loaded with pot luck dishes as well as Church's Fried Chicken. Pam even entertained us while waiting, modeling her New Orleans shirt she added to her wardrobe.

With loaded down plates, our Golden Triangle table chowed down, enjoying their evening meal.

After dinner we all shared many laughs with the entertaining Cajun comedian, Kent Gonsoulin.  He said Cajun's love humor as he shared many humorous tales/lines with us.  Lots of chuckles and laughs!!

We had just a short two hour drive to arrive here today...and I was delighted it wasn't any longer as the road was....well... how do you describe the fact that I was having trouble staying on my mat in the back seat with all the bouncing from the rough highway.  Flop, flop. Thank goodness my mat is soft and thick.

There was so much action that the button popped off the coffee maker.
Hwy 90 is definitely in need of some road work!!

But everyone in our group of 10 rigs arrived safely, ready to enjoy our 5 nights of fun and fellowship in New Iberia, Louisiana.

I'm Chloe
