New Iberia, Louisiana
Day two ...or should it be called the first FULL day...of the Cajun RV Festival kicked off in style. That's Cajun style of course with everyone donning their festival shirt and Cajun headgear for a photo shoot.
Joey Martin and some of is band members shared, not only some music, but details about types of accordians, and the type of music they produce.
Did you notice the one row of white buttons on the two in front vs the three rows of buttons on the one pictured at the top? The more buttons, the more notes/chords available and the heavier the instrument. Momma said she never realized that the note changes, even when you don't move your fingers, just by pulling/fanning out the accordian vs collapsing/pushing in on the accordian. Two different sounds. It really makes you appreciate how talented these musicians are. Of course they were introduced to Cajun music in the womb and teethed on instruments. The accordian player's grandfather decided one day that he could make accordians.....and he did...growing it into a profitable, well known business, that serves not only the United States, but the world.
They added some humorous incidents to their presentation, such as going through the scanner at the airport. The inside of the accordian shows up on the screen looking like there is a pipe bomb inside. Luckily, Joey knows how to repair and reconnect the wires, etc located inside to return the instrument to a playable condition. So the next time, Richard said, 'It may look like pipe bombs, but it really isn't' and of course we all know you don't mention the word 'bomb' to a TSA agent!
Everyone found a way to spend the afternoon. Some who hadn't previously visited the Tabasco Company Store located on Avery Island headed in that direction while some headed to the grocery store, some went on a Swamp Boat tour while others just chilled out. Momma and Dad headed to nearby Lafayette to purchase some boudin from Billy's Boudin and Cracklins. Of course they had to try those boudin balls before purchasing any to put in the freezer so see if Billy's seasonings were as tasty as those they have experienced in the past. Must be they passed as there are now several in the freezer along with chicken breasts stuffed with boudin and pork chops stuffed with cornbread, all seasoned to perfection.
At 4:00, some of the group attended the card bingo game but only Kathy from our group won.
She actually wound up breaking even as her winnings were equal to the number of quarters she put in the cup for the afternoon games. I sure hope the quarters Momma and Dad lost won't mean fewer dog bone treats in the pantry. I LOVE my treats. I sometimes have to remind them that the treat hour has rolled around. Who said I can't tell time?

And tonight, they failed to arrive back at the rig at that special treat hour. I guess they were too busy enjoying that Crawfish Ettoufee dinner
or meatloaf for those not interested in the ettoufee.
which took place right before Joey Martin and band of Degenerates took to the stage to entertain with Zydeco and Cajun music. The band had several dancing the night away.or meatloaf for those not interested in the ettoufee.
I'm sure glad Dad didn't waste any time serving up my evening treat when they finally returned to me.
I'm Chloe
