Small challenges

 June 16, 2022

Spring Lake Resort site 60

Crossville, Tn

Poor Dad seems to experience a bit of anxiety lately when he pulls up to the fuel pump.  Our trip today was less than 3 hours, about 175 miles but somehow the fill up seemed to rack up the $$.  Momma thought maybe it wouldn't be so hard on him this time because she went inside to pay.  A small inconvenience, having to pay inside, but worth it to save 30 cents a gallon.  The only problem with that thought was Dad still got to watch the numbers climb rapidly on the pump.  He actually didn't go into shock as it seems all of our fill ups this trip have been over $100 (and we weren't anywhere close to empty!!)  so he's getting used to the concept of 3 digit fills.

For medicinal purposes - anxiety relief, they decided to head to a place Momma had read about that served rolled ice cream.  It sounded like the preparation would be an interesting experience.  The base ice cream is flattened out on a cold surface.  A flavor layer is added.  Then the whole mess is rolled up, placed in a dish and topped with goodies of your choice.

Unfortunately, these pictures are from the article Momma had read. They found the location
inside an Outlet Mall.  It was advertised as open on Thursdays until 7 pm, .  But alas, the door was locked and a sign was advertising now hiring.

Plan two:  Dairy Queen blizzards.  The server took their order, made two blizzards, turned around to serve them upside down as promised and with the snap of his wrist, he tossed Dad's blizzard in the trash.  What????  That sweet treat had just turned into a sour disappointment.  It hadn't passed the 'served upside down' test.  Poor Dad.  Another event in a trying day.

You see, this campground offers cable for TV viewing BUT...nothing seems to go smoothly all the time.  Today's challenge.....get rid of the snowy picture on the TV screen. No, the booster is turned off so that's not the issue.  We figured it was a problem on our end as we had a similar issue at the last campground but assumed it was a cable service issue.  Guess it must be time to begin some trouble shooting.  Is it our cable....changed it out...no difference.  Is it a bad connector in our rig....wired it direct..no change.  Maybe the connection behind the TV?  'Let's deal with this tomorrow and go fuel up the truck.'  And you already read about that experience.

Yes, they did serve Dad a blizzard that passed the 'served upside down' test.  It all ended well for everyone but me, left home alone without any ice cream treat in my future.

Atleast I got to play ball when Dad got home, and actually, that's a better treat than ice cream as far as I'm concerned!!

I'm Chloe
