Day One....on the road again

I think we have found the perfect way to celebrate the first day of the hurricane season.   You hitch up the fifth wheel and get the wheels rolling in a northernly direction...out of Florida and into Georgia.

Everyone is smiling today.  Momma was tickled to find her peach stand was open and selling delicious, juicy, sweet, ripe peaches at the produce stand at the edge of the Flying J parking lot off of Exit 2 in Georgia.  Last year, she only purchased one bag but the peaches were so good that the memory stayed with her the whole year so....this year's purchase was 2 bags.

  She had one peach almost devoured by the time she returned to me at the truck.  She had peach juice running down her arms and even had a few spots on the front of her shirt.  She said, "Now that's one juicy peach!"  Then Dad grabbed one but he cheated and used a paper towel.  Now me, I don't see what all the attraction is with peaches.  Just give me a nice tasty dog bone treat and I'll create my own saliva juice.  (Was that TMI?  (too much information?))

Georgia has gas/fuel signs that are much nicer than those at home.

Of course if you look around a bit, you can find some a tad higher, but we are enjoying the lower price tag while it is available.

Our destination for the night is Koinonia Farm on the outskirts of Americus, Ga. It was a longer trip than we usually make but by taking turns behind the wheel, we arrived safely.  

Representatives from this farm were at the Georgia State Good Sam Rally selling their granola, nuts and chocolate.  They mentioned that they have a few RV sites so Momma decided to check it out...especially seeing as the nightly rate is $16.20.  

It's only 30 amp but by using our tranfer switch, we can run both AC units.  One unit runs off the 30 amp plug while the second runs off a separate 20 amp line.  With temps of 98 outside and in the mid 80's inside when we arrived, we needed both AC units to get us cooled off quickly.

I don't think they get much RV traffic here.  The 'sites' look a tad sad and unkept but it is serviceable for one night.

I think they have had a sewer line at one time but it isn't really set up for where we are parked.  You can see the next site's power post in this pic so it gives you an idea of how close your neighbor would be.

We are parked on the shabby pavement, but there are other sites behind us in the grass.  We had to pay attention weaving our way to the RV area here at the farm...not cutting corners too sharply to avoid the eves of the large building.  

Momma had purchased some of their Cranberry Granola at the rally to try.  We now have a couple more bags seeing as they enjoyed the first one.

  I'll bet tomorrow's breakfast will be a feast of peaches and blueberries topped with yummy granola.  

Day one of our summer adventure has us off to a good beginning...and it'll only get better, I'm sure!!
