Deerlick Creek COE site 22
Tuscaloosa, Al
It seems every campground has its challenges. We have departed Gunter Hill Campground and left behind the wi-fi challenge. Yes, we had wi-fi, but it put patience to the test as it was S L O W loading. I'm talking dial-up slow if you can remember back to those days. Now, I wasn't born until long after that time, but Momma and Dad shared their memory with me. My blog posts took forever to add pics and even longer to post. Being close to Montgomery, Al who would have thought cell data would have been so limiting and slow? Momma said with the name Deerlick Creek CG, she really didn't have much hope for any internet improvement at the next stop. Well, this campground has proved her wrong. We are back to click and view and no spinning circles of wait...still loading. And we are a good 10+ miles out of Tuscaloosa.
Now I mentioned that every campground has its challenges. Well, this campground wasn't really too much of a challenge for Dad because he is super about parking. Momma booked pull thru site 22 but as it turned out, it took precision to get parked. Picture an arc or curved site with a bank rising on one side and a drop off on the other. The trick is to get your passenger side truck wheels as close to the edge of the cement without dropping off...get closer Dad...
so the fifth wheel can make the curve/corner and not climb the bank and collide with the power post on the edge of the site.I suppose if we were shorter, it wouldn't have been so imtimidating. It really is a gorgeous site. Sorry to say, no sewer hookup at the site. With all the shade, it is comfortable to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air....along with coffee and snacks.
I have been well versed in Georgia red clay, but I didn't realize that Alabama shares that same red clay. Sure looks messy on carsbut colorful on the roadside.
We are only going to enjoy this great site for 2 nights before moving on. With all the woods around us, I may just find a friend or two in the woods to play with. At our last campsite, the neighbors two sites over had a visit from a ??racoon?? bear?? Dad is guessing, as we didn't see him, but we saw the mess he left when he opened up the bag they had hanging on the post to keep the animals out of their garbage. I guess they failed to hang it high enough as litter was scattered all over. Happy day, or rather, night, for the wildlife, I'm sure.
I'm Chloe
