Wills Creek Campgournd, Fot Payne, Al
to
River RV Resort, Marble, NC
There is absolutely no need to add Fort Payne, Alabama to your bucket list. Wills Creek Campground was just an average ho-hum, adequate campground. We did have a pull thru site with a paved patio, close neighbors, full hook up but no other bells and definitely no whistles, although we did have thunder that accompanied the evening rain.
As for Fort Payne, well, Momma was truly disappointed. She had read about an old hoisery factory building that had been repurposed into an antique shop along with a cafe.
It sounded charming and it looked....well....sad.... cluttered.....unkept...and it had such potential.
The train depot museum was closed and unavailable. So much for learning of the history for the area.
Even the Dairy Queen in Fort Payne had lousy, SLOW service that left a lot to be desired.
It took great patience to receive satisfaction.I wonder what the service would have been like if the DQ was really busy and overun with customers? Maybe their service, or lack of, is a reason why they weren't covered up with customers???But we have moved on to the other end of the spectrum. Valley River RV Resort has a beautiful lodge with a welcoming host, a guide to our site who took us past the pool and guided us into our paved waterfront site complete with full hook up and cable.
The trip here was entertaining as we took the scenic highway through the Cherokee National Forest in the Ocoee area. Lots of rafters were taking advantage of the beautiful weather.
We now have great views of the mountains
where the temperature has lowered to a level that Momma had to grab a light jacket in the evening. By the next moring, with a temperature of 57, I asked Dad if he had any glue that I could use to kept my hair from shedding and give me a warmer coat of fur. I just wound up playing a game of ball to warm up.
I'm Chloe
