I'm sure you'll have to agree that this a good looking group.
In the background is the Old Governor's Mansion that has been restored back to the period in time when Howell Cobb was governor, 1851-1853 The tour is run by the college. The group had arrived in a timely fashion, ready to purchase tickets for the tour, but the college student/tour guide with the key had yet to arrive. Lots of time for pictures.
And time to enjoy the spring flowers.
The tour took us to the area that the servants worked
Did they really bake in this wall oven heated by wood? |
in as well as the main floor and then on further up an additional staircase (3 floors up for the servants to travel) to the bedrooms all displaying period furnishings.

It was interesting to note that the carpet had been laid in strips. If an area became soiled, that strip was removed for cleaning and then resewn in place.
This key ring looks quite heavy with such large keys.
At the conclusion of the tour, some decided on a Dairy Queen lunch while other headed to Little River Antiques. What a lovely shop!!
And of course the day wasn't over until the games had been played. Cards for the two-legged and ball for ME!
I'm Chloe
