Monte Sano State Park

 March 28, 2026

Summerfield, Fl

Momma has been traveling vicariously since having to return home to hook up with a wound specialist.  She has commented that she would much prefer to be out of state with her camping friends but....life doesn't always work out the way you have planned.  So the next best thing are the texts with photos from her friends.

Greg and Kathy are headed on a southerly track where they stopped in Folsom, Georgia visiting the Chesser family homestead.  The original house was built 99 years ago.

Michele and Jim have decided to take advantage of their current location and spend the day with friends who live in the Huntsville area.

Steve and Carol decided to visit the US Space and Rocket Center Museum as they will be departing Huntsville and heading south tomorrow.

The remainder of the Huntsville group headed for Scottsboro, Alabama to visit/shop at the Unclaimed Baggage Center.

Back in 1970, Hugo Doyle Owen heard over his ham radio that a greyhound bus service had a pile of unclaimed bags.  For $300, he drove his truck to pick them up and the business began.

Unpacking lost bags is like an archeological dig.   It's hard to contemplate why someone would leave behind and not search for some pricey items that failed to make the trip with them.  Items such as a 1770 violin or Hoggle-Jim Henson Puppet.  Some items were displayed in a museum area.

while other items were displayed in a sales area

Rick was please to discover a relaxing coffee corner to make use of while the gals explored the center and made a few purchases.

Their lunch report made Momma sad,

as she LOVES Culver's.  But as it happens, Dad loves Culver's as well so he took Momma out for dinner.

Needless to say, I was left home.

As it drew near dinnertime in Alabama, Pam made French toast for the gang

to go with Louise's sausage and blueberry, cool whip toppings.

And once again, the evening was spent gathered around the table for a game...Mexican Train tonight.

And another day of adventures drew to a close at Monte Sano State Park.

I'm Chloe
