Cotton Hill cg site 57
Fort Gaines, GA
This is a very dangerous place to camp as the location is way too close to Donut King in Eufaula, just over the state border in Alabama. Those donuts are so light and airy with a wonderful glaze that makes it nearly impossible to stop at just one. This morning, when the early morning donut run was made, all the filled donuts had already been sold out. It was a Saturday morning and the customers were lined up early at the sales counter. But three boxes of delicious glazed donuts made their way to Cotton Hill to be shared by the gang. What a treat!!
While in Eufaula the day before, Momma snapped a picture of the small bakery as they passed by on the way to purchase some fuel.
We all chuckled when we noticed the car next to the shop.
Today was catch up day. Some caught up on laundry. Some caught up on grocery shopping. And some looked under to hood and attempted unsuccessfully to purchase an auto part.
The part purchased was supposed to be a heat sensor to address the coolant light indicator appearing on the dash. The actual part Dad was given is an exhaust sensor. What???? So Dad called and was told 'I'll get right back with you'. When that didn't happen, he called back and discovered that the employee had left for the day. So much for customer service!
Dinner was cooked over the open flame tonight with some using pie irons while others made use of the grill.
Tomorrow we will be packing up and leaving our beautiful water view sites, heading for Pine Mountain.
We have certainly enjoyed our stay at Cotton Hill
...and I'm sure we'll be returning.
I'm Chloe
