We have arrived

 March 22, 2023

Hardridge Creek COE Campground site 72

Abbieville, Alabama

What a fine day to travel.  We had a great send off by the entertaining ducks and geese.

There were 10 rigs moving on to the next location so we spaced ourselves out a bit to keep traffic flowing smoothly, although the majority of the road was a 4 lane highway.  Dad was in the lead with Tim and Julie following behind when Louise snapped this pic from her front window.  'On the road again!"
We had Georgia on our mind for the last 10 days but today our focus has shifted.
And the time as shifted as well to Central Time.

Momma couldn't get over the redness of the fields that the tractors were plowing in preparation for planting.

But we aren't near any fields at this location.  We are situated on the shores of  Walter F. George Lake in a Corp of Engineer Campground.

Dad got out our grill.  It's about time they decided to grill those smoked porkchops picked up at Stripling's General Store.  Wait a minute....I only count two chops and there are 3 of us.
Before the sun set....now isn't that a gorgeous view.....
Dad headed into the woods near our site and located some fallen, dead wood to light in our fire ring.

Now that's what I call a campfire!!

And once the fire burns down and leaves a nice bed of coals, it's time to get out the bag of those fluffy white treats and spear them with a long handled fork.

Tim was the chef this evening, serving up lightly browned, gooey toasted marshmallow treats as the group sat around the fire and shared their stories of today's travel.
"and as I approached the sign stating narrow bridge, I looked     ahead to see a huge logging truck coming at me"

"I decided to trust that the fearless leader I was following knew where he was going so I just ignored my nagging GPS that kept telling me to turn, turn, turn."

"And when he turned off the highway, I hesitantly followed and   then I phoned him to inquire where he was going.  But I decided to let him follow his GPS and I turned around to follow the directions of MY GPS.  Guess who arrived first!"

It is so much laughing at shared tales and enjoying time with great friends.

I understand there will be donuts tomorrow morning from the Donut King in nearby Eufaula.  I wonder how many I can snag if I go into stealth mode?  I think I might like donuts.

I'm Chloe
