So close...

 July 13, 2021

Evergreen CG, Conneaut, Ohio

Have you every had that miserable feeling when you are soooo close to your goal but you can't quite seem to get there?  We were tooling along until about 12 miles from our goal for the day when....all we could see in the distance were brake lights going on with our brake lights lighting up to join the rest of the stopped vehicles on the highway.

So close to our destination but stalled out....creeping along..inch by inch...foot by foot...as time marches on for the next 5 miles.

Dad turned on the CB to discover that there was road construction up the road a ways and everyone was being shifted to the open left lane.  Now as luck would have it, a clever trucker decided to cut off any cars trying to zip up closer to the front by using the right lane and merging in ahead of those already in the left lane.  He just slowly moved forward in the right lane, pacing himself with the forward movement rate of the left lane.  That cut down the time it took for us to get through the conjestion.  That trucker was doing his part in assisting everyone behind us to practice patience.

This campground came with challenges.  We had narrow interior roads and back-in sites.  It definitely wasn't a one shot deal to get settled in place, but with some jockying, we managed to get situated without any mishaps.

Dad took me for a nice long walk and low and behold, there he was up ahead.  My Romeo...my heartthrob.... with two blue eyes and a coat of fur to match mine.  Dad was chatting up the guy on the end of his lead while I was dancing and prancing with my mate.  If I could have just gotten free of this restricting lead, I'll bet we could have had a grand time!!

I was so keyed up after my encounter, that I just grabbed my long, toy, orange and yellow snake and ran all over the rig, whipping my toy as I ran.  I put on quite a show for Uncle Steve and Aunt Carol who took time out from their map planning to laugh at my antics.

Travel day again tomorrow as we head further east and into New York.  The Geneva area is our goal...about 220 miles of road to travel.  We might just get the opportunity to pack up in the rain unless we get lucky and find a dry window.  Cross your fingers...

I'm Chloe
