Grabill

 July 2, 2021

Johnny Appleseed CG, Fort Wayne, IN

Today the two legged headed to Grabill, Indian for a day trip.  They began at the Country Store where the friendly greeters/cashiers encouraged us to begin our day with a cup of coffee.  Well, if you know Dad, he made a beeline out the back door to the Coffee Shop following the gals directions.

The  Country Store was enchanting.  It was a maze of two story antiques and craft items with a couple of items that just couldn't be turned away from.

Being well aware that customers could get lost in the maze of rooms and nooks, they had painted arrows to follow to assist in locating fire escapes. It took a couple of hours to see it all, and that was just giving everything a quick glance.

Just around the corner, the General Store offered a different kind of temptation.

Yes, those are all barrels and boxes of candy treats.  Many from an era that brought back memories....although they were labeled with current prices...not those penny candy prices of the past.
This store was crowded with goodies but it wasn't the maze of the previous store.  This store wasn't anywhere near the size of the previous shop.

Being an Amish community, there was a bulk food store.

Not all products were packaged in such huge quantities.
It would take a huge pot luck gathering to make a dent in that bag of rolled oats!  Too bad they didn't have dog treats in those huge packages.  That would be heavenly!!  Aunt Carol could have spent the evening passing me treats instead of playing that game of Tick.  The lead shifted many times as the game progressed, but in the end, Dad was declared the winner.  Go Dad!!
