From history to cheese

 July 15, 2021

Junius Ponds CG, Phelps, NY

Well today marked 43 years of wedded bliss for Momma and Dad.  I wish I could have been around for all those 43 years.  I sure have enjoyed my 3 1/2 years and I'm hoping to spend many more years with them.  Mmmm...3 1/2 is like 24 dog years.  Does that mean I'm no longer a pup?  I guess you are just as old as you feel, and I feel good....especially when I'm playing catch and chasing after a ball or frisbee!!

Dad played with me a bit this morning before they loaded up in the truck and headed to Rose Hill Mansion, a Greek Revival Style home built in the early 1800's.

Our tour guide stated that there were 23 rooms, but not all the rooms were part of the original home.  The architect did a great job with the addition.

They had set up one room to model how the room would have looked in the summer months.  With open doors used for ventilation as there was no AC, everything was covered to prevent the dirt from the outside collecting on the furniture inside the home.  Cheese cloth looking matertial covered the paintings and chandeliers, while throws covered the furniture.
It looked like they were ready to celebrate Halloween with imitation webs on the pictures and lights.

In the later 1800's, heat panels were installed so the fire places wouldn't have to be lit to provide heat.

The day's adventure continued at a Cheese House.  They offered cheeses for sale as well as craft drinks. You could participate in cheese tasting.
Or just purchase if you already knew what you liked.

I know they purchased cheese because I saw the bag come into the rig but I also know I'll never get to taste any of that cheese....unless I serve myself...which I have been known to do.

I'm Chloe
